The Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services (IIS) Capabilities and Technologies (C&T) group leads interdisciplinary applied research and development (R&D) for all of IIS. R&D ranges from concept development, trade studies, and rapid prototyping for customized engineering products and services. We develop solutions to solve customer needs as well as plan future capabilities and technology roadmaps.
Raytheon is looking to fill a several data engineering positions in Boston, MA or Dulles, VA. The candidate will join a small, agile group of engineers focused on applying state of the art data science (DS), data engineering (DE), and artificial intelligence (AI) approaches to a variety of customer problems. Modern DS/DE/AI approaches are inherently interdisciplinary, integrating concepts from Computer Science, statistics, and math among other fields. Therefore, the candidate must have both technical depth in data engineering combined with interdisciplinary breadth to integrate concepts from other fields.
Raytheon is looking for data engineers who will be able to work with software development teams and data scientists to develop data pipeline architectures capable of handling complex data sets quickly and securely as well as to productize data science solutions. The ideal candidate will be able to advise product teams as the best practices in handling large and complex data sets and help data scientists convert proof of concept solutions into fast and efficient production-ready systems.
Typical tasks may include:
Work with product teams and data scientists to improve the efficiency and speed of computational models
Create and maintain data pipeline architectures to automate the processing of large and complex data sets
Transform complex analytical models into fast, scalable, and production-ready solutions
Stand-up and maintain and update data processing infrastructures
Work with product teams and data scientists to develop a wide variety of data products
4 years of related experience
Highly proficient in SQL to include schema design, database definition, and advanced queries
Experience with MPP data architectures such as Kafka, Spark, or Hadoop
Experience with scripting languages for automating repetitive tasks
Experience building optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and data sets
Ability to and experience with creating automated data pipelines for complex systems
Extensive Linux server management background
Ability to work with product teams, data scientists, and other stakeholders as well as
Assist product teams with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure
Experience in managing a variety of Amazon Web Services products.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills along with the ability to present technical data and approaches to both technical and non-technical audiences
Experience in working with NoSQL databases
Background designing and developing dashboards and other data products
U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
