Data Engineer, Product Analytics Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute data warehouse plans for a product or a group of products to solve well-scoped problems.

Identify the data needed for a business problem and implement logging required to ensure availability of data, while working with data infrastructure to triage issues and resolve.

Collaborate with engineers, product managers and data scientists to understand data needs, representing key data insights visually in a meaningful way.

Build data expertise and leverage data controls to ensure privacy, security, compliance, data quality, and operations for allocated areas of ownership.

Design, build and launch new data models and visualizations in production, leveraging common development toolkits.

Independently design, build and launch new data extraction, transformation and loading processes in production, mentoring others around efficient queries.

Support existing processes running in production and implement optimized solutions with limited guidance.

Define and manage SLA for data sets in allocated areas of ownership.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in the data warehouse space.

Experience in custom ETL design, implementation and maintenance.

Experience with object-oriented programming languages.

Experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling.

Experience in writing SQL statements.

Experience analyzing data to identify deliverables, gaps and inconsistencies.

Experience managing and communicating data warehouse plans to internal clients.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Technical Field, Computer Science or Mathematics.

Experience working with either a MapReduce or an MPP system.

Knowledge and practical application of Python.

We are looking for a leader in our Data Engineering team to work closely with Product Managers, Data Scientists and Software Engineers to support building out a great platform for the future of computing. In this role, you'll see a direct link between your work, company growth, and user satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have strong data infrastructure and data architecture skills as well as experience in areas such as operating system telemetry, data driven acceleration of computer vision problems & voice assistants. Candidates should also have a proven track record of leading and scaling data teams, strong operational skills to drive efficiency and speed, strong project management leadership, and a strong vision for how data can proactively improve companies. Data Engineering Manager, Analytics (Facebook Reality Labs) Responsibilities * Proactively drive the vision for Dashboarding and Data Warehousing across Spark AR and define and execute on a plan to achieve that vision. Define the processes needed to achieve operational excellence in all areas, including project management, data quality and system reliability. Build a high quality Data Engineering team and design the team to scale. Build cross-functional relationships with Data Scientists, Product Managers, User Researchers and Software Engineers to understand how data can help inform product direction. Manage data warehouse plans across Spark AR. Drive the design, building, and launching of new dashboards, data models and data pipelines in production. Manage development of data resources and support new product launches. Define and manage SLA's for all data sets and processes running in production. Minimum Qualifications * 10+ years of experience in Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing. Experience scaling and managing 4+ person teams. Communication and leadership experience, with experience initiating and driving projects. Project management experience. Data architecture experience. Experience in SQL or similar languages and development experience in at least one scripting language (Python, Perl, etc.). BA/BS in Computer Science, Math, Physics or other technical fields. Preferred Qualifications * Experience in a consumer web, gaming, or mobile company. Experience with Augmented Reality or similar media enhancement technologies. Experience with large volume data sets, Hive/Presto, and data visualization tools.
