Exciting Data Encryption Architect / Data Protection Consultant, contract / full-time, opportunity.


An ideal candidate demonstrates a unique blend of technical skills, business acumen, and the ability to think strategically.

  • Design and support data security-related functions and controls including:
    • Data protection controls (encryption, masking, tokenization, etc)
    • Monitoring databases for data movement
    • Application level data protection
    • Research and analysis on data movement and exfiltration through database usage
  • Communicate clearly in both verbal and written forms
  • Experience with protection mechanism for data at rest, in motion and in use
  • Data taxonomy, discovery techniques and classification methods
  • Manage multiple initiatives in parallel
  • Document controls and processes
  • Partner with teammates and other security teams to research, assess, and recommend improvements of control environments
  • Analyze system events for diagnosis, trending, and measuring of system health, capacity, and configuration efficiency
  • Periodic participation in incident response teams to help in analyzing, containing, and coordinating elements of security incidents


  • Bachelors degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience deploying and administrating a data protection solution
  • 4+ years of related professional experience
  • Experience with database protection control, such as Transparent Data Encryption, Tokenization, Format Preserving Encryption (Thales, Protegrity, Microfocus SecureData, etc.)
  • Effective interpersonal, communication and leadership skills to influence operational changes, drive collaboration, and maximize adoption of new ideas, tools and practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences from technical to executive management.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and multi-tasking skills with a successful track record of managing expectations, delivering results, and meeting milestones and deadlines
  • Knowledge of database design, database administration, application security, programming, systems analysis procedures, operating systems
  • Relevant professional certifications: CISSP, CISM, GPEN, CEH, OSCP, or equivalent are strongly desired

As part of the IT Engineering job family, this position is responsible for leveraging DEVOPS, and both Waterfall and Agile practices, to design, develop, and deliver resilient, secure, multi-channel, high-volume, high-transaction, on/off-premise, cloud-based solutions. Provides insight into recommendations for technical solutions that meet design and functional needs. Translates business requirements and functional specifications into physical program designs, code modules, stable application systems, and software solutions by partnering with Business Analysts and other team members to understand business needs and functional specifications. Assists in identification of specific interfaces, methods, parameters, procedures, and functions, as required, to support technical solutions. Leads systems' incident support and troubleshooting for complex and non-complex issues. Supports component integration testing (CIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT) for application initiatives by providing triage, attending test team meetings, keeping the QC up-to-date, performing fixes and unit testing, providing insight to testing teams in order to ensure the appropriate depth of test coverage, and supporting the development of proper documentation. Builds and maintains trusting relationships with internal customers and third party vendors to ensure the alignment, buy-in, and support of diverse project stakeholders. Reviews and validates technical specifications and documentation. Builds partnerships with IT teams and vendors to ensure written code adheres to company architectural standards, design patterns, and technical specifications. Leads, mentors, and trains other technical resources to develop software applications. Develops, configures, or modifies basic to moderately complex integrated business and/or enterprise application solutions within various computing environments by designing and coding component-based applications using programming languages.
