Facebook is seeking a Water Specialist to manage cross-functional program efforts for the large and growing water global Data Center portfolio during pre-development, construction, and operations phases. This position will report directly to the Data Center Environmental Manager on the Site Selection team, and will work closely with other Data Center teams. This position is full-time and located in our Menlo Park, Seattle, or Washington DC offices. Travel is needed to visit our data center sites and attend agency and stakeholder meetings.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage water program for Data Centers, including facilitating and driving communication and cross-team coordination between internal water stakeholders, including Sustainability, Strategic Engineering and Development, and Operations for entire life cycle of a project (pre-construction, construction, and operations)

Coordinate water due diligence activities across multiple development efforts throughout North America and Europe, including working closely with other internal teams to identify recommendations and risks during site selection

Manage water agreements during all phases of a project, including supporting agreement negotiations by internal partners, ensuring contract compliance by tracking and implementing ongoing obligations

Summarize and communicate water commitments and obligations across multiple diverse Facebook teams

Lead programmatic strategy and decisions on water evaluations, water rights, and water-related permits

Review and evaluate Stormwater Management practices during construction and operations, particularly if wetlands onsite

Scope, review findings, and provide direction to consultants and internal teams on water evaluations, when needed

Review and evaluate water monitoring data to compare against agreements, identify anomalies, and establish best practices

Work with internal partners on external stakeholder communication

Monitor state and local policies that could affect water

Provide expertise to diverse internal teams and coordinate with other teams about relevant water issues and requirements

Develop training and educational tools regarding water goals, compliance and awareness

Manage the preparation of Water Emergency Plans for Data Centers, including coordinating input from consultants and diverse internal teams

Assist in facilitating the growth of the environmental program within Facebook Data Centers as the company continues to grow and build environmental excellence

Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (up to 25%)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years experience in water resources management, hydrology, hydrogeology, or water and wastewater infrastructure projects

Technical experience related to industrial water use and wastewater discharge, water efficiency techniques, as well as water policy and permitting

Experience working with water utilities

Communication, organizational and program management experience

Experience in data management software, such as Excel

Experience in managing multiple projects and coordinating with internal staff and external consultants, vendors and other stakeholders

Experience working in teams, establishing and maintaining cross-functional and working relationships

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in related field

Facebook is seeking a water coordinator to support cross-functional program efforts for the large and growing water global Data Center portfolio during pre-development, construction, and operations phases. This position will report directly to the Environment & Water Manager on the Global Energy and Site Selection team, and will work closely with our Water Specialists. This position is full-time and located in our Menlo Park headquarters. Some travel is needed to visit our Data Center sites to better understand operations and meet site teams. RESPONSIBILITIES * Conduct research, collect data, and provide water engineering expertise to support development of water risk assessments during pre-development phase, and Integrated Water Management Plans during operations phase Develop and manage data tooling for the water program, including data visualization and dashboarding (i.e., Tableau, SQL) Organize, review and evaluate water and wastewater monitoring data to compare against agreements, identify anomalies, and establish best practices Organize and maintain water-related documentation for all phases of projects (pre- and post-development) Coordinate and track water due diligence efforts as well as compliance with permits, pre-treatment requirements, and water/sewer agreements Review water billing for rates verification and issue spotting Develop training and educational tools regarding water goals, compliance and awareness for diverse Facebook teams Develop metrics and tools to establish and track Key Performance Indicators for water program and best management practices Develop and oversee schedule and budget for water program Monitor state and local policies that could affect water Assist in facilitating the growth of the water program within Facebook Data Centers as the company continues to grow and build environmental excellence Provide water engineering expertise to diverse internal teams and coordinate with other teams about relevant issues and requirements, including construction, operations, sustainability, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) teams Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (up to 10%) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience in water engineering, water resources management, hydrogeology, or water and wastewater infrastructure projects E.I.T. in civil or environmental engineering or related field Technical experience related to industrial water use and wastewater discharge, water efficiency techniques, or water policy and permitting Communication, organizational and program management experience Experience in managing multiple projects and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders Experience working in teams, establishing and maintaining cross-functional and working relationships Experience in data management software, such as Excel Experience with data visualization tooling (Excel, SQL, Tableau, or MATLAB) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience in working with water utilities Facebook Menlo Park CA
