This is a lead Data Center Operations Analyst position. The candidate will apply professional-level technical skill and judgment to provide non-routine technical support for computer/data center operations environment within Varian Medical Systems corporate data center.
The position will have lead responsibility for hardware installations, cable/wire management, configuration and troubleshooting of server and non-desktop computer hardware, software systems and other resources in a data center.
The candidate will serve as a primary liaison for vendor management, equipment deliveries and facility infrastructure services such as UPS, Generator, and HVAC maintenance. In this capacity, facility equipment monitoring and reporting anomalies to appropriate support organizations will be critical.
The position will provide support for tape media handling including robotic library maintenance, tape management, rotation of media to/from off-prem storage and preparation of off-prem tape packages on daily basis.
The lead analyst will have responsibility for coordination of shift coverages in a 7x24 hour coverage schedule and will provide oversight for Data Center security access.
Documentation of standard operating procedures, maintenance of the DCIM, and maintenance/update of equipment assets in the CMDB will also fall under the responsibility of Data Center Operations organization. The position will participate in regular inventory equipment audits.
The suitable candidate will have a thorough understanding of ITIL foundations and will manage Incidents, Changes, and Requests for service and support through the Service Now tool.
The position requires ability to communicate highly technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel in support of both project workload and daily operational support responsibilities. The position may participate in development of information technology and infrastructure projects.
Required Certifications and Training Obtains and completes LMS training plan specific to assigned responsibility. Experience Level with Business Tools Proficient in utilizing business tools such as:
E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired. Bachelors Degree (or equivalent experience) and/or 2-5 years of related experience or Masters Degree with no or little experience.
