We seek an individual with experience in engineering management and leadership, to establish and maintain a consistent service delivery framework for site-wide projects and global engineering functions. Depth and breadth of knowledge managing large operations and engineering functions is a core competency of this individual, ideally in a distributed, global context.

The Infrastructure Services Manager is responsible for leading a team of highly skilled, engineers and project managers, who are providing services across the globe. This person is expected to have a strong track record in roles requiring managerial, technical and project management excellence, with the ability to oversee and deliver large, complex technical initiatives and projects across the entire data center space.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a Data Center Services team responsible for technical engineering, capacity and infrastructure project planning and oversight, including project management, metrics, reporting, technical services, site effort coordination, and large scale, long term planning both within a region and globally.

Project Management responsibilities include oversight and delegation of project scopes and objectives, project planning documentation, communication, task resource availability management, change and risk management, project performance tracking, ensuring all team managed projects are completed to high standards of quality, on time, within scope and budget.

Technical team responsibilities include management of globally-oriented, subject matter experts in multiple disciplines, including information security, hardware engineering, software engineering, provisioning, and related fields. These resources will provide both site and global support and are key partners to other Facebook teams.

Provide a project tracking/reporting/metrics structure that incorporates Facebook methodologies and standards, and that is effective with cross-functional partners and external vendors.

Mentor, lead, and develop the project management, presentation, organizational, technical, and leadership capabilities of team members, such that they can develop global technical solutions, oversee small to large scale project efforts, and plan and coordinate daily operations and long-term project efforts with minimal supervision.

Collaborate with other Services Managers in data center sites around the globe to evolve and optimize service level processes and approaches in a globally consistent way, to allow Facebook to scale and grow effectively.

Create and drive a culture of ownership, innovation, collaboration, accountability, and safety. Support and contribute thought leadership to the development and implementation of business, engineering, and project management practices which support the growth and ongoing management of our global data center IT footprint.

Work with peer organizations and regional teams that affect and deliver services to data center operations such as network operations, project management, facilities/maintenance management, logistics, hardware design, automated tooling and supply chain operations in order to successfully maintain data center capacity to support ongoing business growth.

Deliver Facebook's products and services from the data center site, ensuring operational delivery through collaboration and partnership with both remote and local peer organizations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS or BA in a technical field, or commensurate experience

Experience managing teams of project managers and/or technical resources

Knowledge of enterprise level infrastructure

Experience managing multiple concurrent projects

Experience training, mentoring, and leading project management professionals and senior level engineers

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in large-scale data center environments, planning and coordinating

An understanding of server infrastructure automation and concepts such as provisioning, out-of-band access and configuration management

The person should enjoy working in a complex and highly technical environment where innovation, planning and communication is key to their success. This position is full-time and will be based in Los Lunas, NM. As a Site Project Manager required strengths include both Project Management as well as in-depth technical ability and knowledge of infrastructure, capacity planning and automation of large-scale server environments. Ability to manage multiple complex projects of highly technical nature, involving work and communication across teams and geographical locations. Knowledge of all the key deliverables from teams in an environment and leveraging this to identify opportunities for efficiency gains and innovation is a key factor to success in this role. RESPONSIBILITIES * Lead Data Center specific projects that may span several functions or sites, coordinating work across these and ensuring on-time delivery of the project. Establish initial overall plan of new Data Center projects, including defining the time schedule, scope, risk analysis and resource estimates. Ensure alignment with centrally based Operation Program Managers and Technical Program Managers as well as Data Center-based PM roles on other teams to enable delivery of complex projects. Handle communications of project progress to stakeholders, and define initial communication paths. Lead and define all local collaboration channels such as meetings, groups and reports. Act as local escalation point for issues affecting the delivery of projects, and facilitate resolution of issues where support outside of the project team is required. Act as conduit for feedback on existing and new processes deployed at the Data Centers. Work as a coordination point for regional capacity related projects and coordinate with local resources. Drive coordinated efforts that impact global timelines for retrofits, decoms, and new construction within the Site or wider region. Manage day-to-day work within project directly where required, and act as support and coordinator for areas managed by other PM functions. Act as mentor both at the site and for peers globally, and represent and temporarily lead work in the team if manager is absent. Ability to travel up to 30% required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * B.Eng./B.S. in a technical discipline or equivalent experience. 3+ years of technical project management experience, in a data center environment. Experience working in a 24/7 critical operations. Technical experience with knowledge in all of the following areas, with particular on at least two: Server hardware, Operating systems and provisioning, Physical and logical capacity planning, Data Center cooling and power, Asset management, Fiber and network technology, Data Center Construction. Experience leading projects in a Data Center environment including areas such as Construction to Operations, Capacity planning, turn-ups and decommissioning and process and tooling innovation. Project management experience in defining roadmaps, building and translating initiatives into projects. Organizational and time management experience. Experience prioritizing and working on multiple projects/tasks simultaneously. Experience in communication, building relationships, consensus and removing roadblocks. Experience communicating stakeholders across different teams and locations. Experience getting the project moving until all has been identified and clarified. Experience consuming information and separate the signal from the noise. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience in dealing with multiple projects, juggling different priorities and projects.
