Facebook is seeking an experienced Data Center Capacity Analyst with an Operations Research background to join the Strategic Planning & Analytics team (SP&A). In this role you'll be part of the team that plans data center capacity and drives supply strategies for one of the most fast-growing infrastructure in the world. You will evaluate critical capacity planning changes, develop supply plans that encompass space and power planning, and maintain the plan of record for Facebook's global data center program.

Tens of billions of user requests, hundreds of petabytes of data, thousands of Giga bps of network flow, welcome to the amazingly largest Internet service in the world. In this role, you will work closely with our data center operations teams and capacity engineering teams to create the tactical planning and capacity turn-up programs, you will help develop new tools and processes to improve global capacity planning. You will support the analysis of new initiatives and drive the implementation of new data center strategies and planning changes.

You will also help define and develop dashboards, reporting processes, and data visualizations to deliver insights across several planning areas. This is a full-time opportunity located in our offices in Menlo Park/Fremont, CA.

DATA CENTER CAPACITY ANALYST RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work cross-functionally to define problem statement, collect data, build analytical models and make recommendation

Perform financial, statistical, and qualitative data analysis on data center supply strategies

Build performance dashboards and visualizations to highlight trends, and develop insights

Create quantitative models reporting business trends across the data center space

Automate data collection, develop and maintain analytical models, and generate reports and dashboards that measure the performance of Facebook's data centers

Work with capacity engineering groups and partner with field teams to coordinate and produce capacity turn-up schedule

Work with the data center teams and various stakeholders to create the relevant metrics for measuring and monitoring the business

Lead and support various ad hoc projects, as needed, in support of Facebook's data center strategy

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience
    4+ years of experience in Operations Research, Supply Chain Management, Capacity Planning, or Business Analytics

Experience leveraging Excel to drive data-driven insights for the business

Experience using data access tools and building dashboards using datasets and sources

Experience using SQL, Perl, Python, Unix/Linux, Visual Basic or other programming languages

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience analyzing and interpreting data, drawing conclusions, defining recommended actions, and reporting results across diverse stakeholders

Experience using data driven models for the purposes of developing forecasts and strategic plans

Analyze data and identify root cause to network issues. Build monitoring systems and software robots that can debug and remediate network issues at scale Test new network platforms before they are deployed in production Build automation that improves the safety and reliability of our network software CI/CD pipeline Partner alongside the best engineers in the industry on the coolest stuff around - the code and systems you work on, will be in production and used by billions of users all around the world MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * 2+ years of experience in one or more of higher level programming languages: Python, C, C++, Go, etc. Understanding of TCP/IP 5+ years of routing protocol experience in one or more of BGP, OSPF, ISIS or similar routing protocols - understanding of typical configurations and performance 5+ years of experience in configuration and maintenance of network devices and NMS systems, or applications such as web servers, load balancers, relational databases, storage systems and messaging systems Experience developing and understanding network device configuration for at least one vendor (Arista, Juniper, Cisco, Brocade, Ciena, Infinera, Linux, etc.) Experience understanding and mitigating network hardware and topology failures PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * BS or MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering Experience in a service provider or hyper-scale network in engineering or design roles Experience in developing networking platforms and NOS software Knowledge in MPLS/Traffic-Engineering Understanding of the internals of a Router/Switch hardware, NPU/dataplanes and Optics Understanding of the design principles and troubleshooting of distributed systems Facebook's mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together.
