Workiva is seeking a leader to join our IT team to help design and build a state of the art data platform, someone to help us build our data systems strategy.

What You'll Do:

  • Design and build data infrastructure to support data processing, visualizations, reporting, and advanced analytics including AI and machine learning, while maintaining data quality, governance, lifecycle management, and compliance

  • Stand-up large-scale data management and processing systems using technologies such as Redshift, Big Query, Snowflake, Kafka, Kinesis, Spark, or similar platforms

  • Provide strategic direction, evaluation and recommendation of data and analytics technologies

  • Mentor members of the data and analytics teams

  • Work with the Architecture, Information Security, Infrastructure, and Operations teams to design and implement new initiatives as related to data and analytics.

  • Collaborate with employees and teams across the company, including other engineering teams, architecture, business stakeholders, and senior leadership

What You'll Need:

  • 5+ years leading system design experience in building large scale distributed systems and products

  • Strong experience with cloud technologies, preferably AWS such as Athena, Glue, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB NoSQL, Relational Database Service (RDS)

  • Experience with a variety of concepts, methodologies, technologies, and programming languages, including:

  • Streaming and data technologies, such as Kafka, Kinesis, Redshift, Big Query, Snowflake, Spark, stream processing, NoSQL, Kubernetes, or Docker

  • Data visualization tools such as QuickSight, Tableau, Data Studio, or custom tools via D3 or HTML5

  • Programming languages; Python or Java preferred

  • Infrastructure as code or automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible or Cloud Formation

  • Advanced networking and hardware knowledge

  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) performance integration testing

  • Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

  • Messaging infrastructure, security protocols and search indexing

  • Advanced knowledge of networking and hardware, web and application servers, and serverless architectures

  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems, including conducting root cause analyses, code debugging, and leveraging programming patterns.

  • Experience in identifying, establishing, deploying and maintaining architecture strategy and structure

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including influencing, negotiating and resolving conflicts

  • Experience in the following helpful but not required:

  • Extract Transform Load (ETL) and ETL pipelines

  • DevOps, DataOps or MLOps methodologies

  • Large scale, near real-time applications

  • Distributed systems

  • Financial and compliance systems

  • Data warehousing and Massively Parallel Processing (MPP)

  • Operations Support Systems (OSS)

  • Vertical specialization, such as predictive analysis, anomaly detection and monitoring

  • Project management

VIEW JOBS 2/26/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-05-26T00:00 POSITION TITLE: Data Architect (Exempt, Salaried) DIRECT REPORT: VP, IT & Data SUMMARY Cardinal is undergoing a strategic initiative to build a data insights platform leveraging Google Cloud Platform for the data warehouse layer and Domo for visualization. The data warehouse will ingest key operational, financial, and external data to provide valuable insights to the organization. The architect will work closely with key business stakeholders to understand business requirements and design the cloud and data warehouse architecture to meet those needs. RESPONSIBILITIES (Included but not limited to) * Work with business partners to understand data needs * Design, maintain, and optimize the Cloud Architecture within Google Cloud Platform * Design, develop, and support the data warehouse including ingestion from source system, staging data, integration, star schema transformation, and reporting layer SPROCs for Domo consumption * Design reporting artifacts within Domo. * Provide mentorship, direction, and technical escalation to the data engineer. * Continue to learn and develop skills relevant to the current and future data environment. * Introduce data science and data analytics concepts to the team. * Participate in Cardinal U training as required and champion the Cardinal Culture.
