We are seeking a data architect to further the capabilities of Netsmart's Data Platform. The Data Platform consumes, organizes, and optimizes data from many sources, including those internal and external to the Netsmart CareFabric ecosystem. Individuals on this team are passionate about healthcare and using data to solve problems, producing better outcomes while driving down the cost of care. They work directly with product managers, EHR engineers, data engineers, DBAs, and support professionals to facilitate retrieving data from a variety of sources, and transforming it into required formats, and creating data processing pipelines that meet our clients' needs. The data architect will be responsible for working with this to further the capabilities of Netsmart's CareFabric data strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Strategy Development: Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, and stakeholders from other areas of the Netsmart CareFabric to develop the data strategy. Participate in design of CareFabric data structures with CareRecord teams with a focus on utilizing this data for analytics and AI/ML use cases. Gain solid understanding of internal and external (FHIR, HL7) sources of healthcare data.

  • Data Warehouse Management: Oversee the selection, configuration, and management of databases and database layers for data warehousing and application-specific data marts. This may include NoSQL, as well as row and columnar SQL databases. Choose the appropriate data technologies to ensure data integrity, security, and scalability for each product use case. Collaborate with data engineers to implement ETL/ELT and streaming pipelines to feed these data stores.

  • Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor, audit, and optimize data warehouse and data marts and underlying infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. Partner with Cloud Specialists, Platform Engineering, and DBAs to

  • Data Modeling and Design: Develop robust data models, ensuring efficient storage, retrieval, system performance for analytical and reporting use cases while maintaining data quality, integrity, and security. Identify the appropriate model architecture to fit the use case and underlying technology.

  • Data Governance & Quality: Establish data governance frameworks and practices. Implement processes that measure and quantity data quality, provide data lineage, enable provision data via access control. Help guide data stewardship through creating frameworks for organization of people to formalize accountability for managing information resources. Defined approach such as centralized sharing control or distributed/democratized data mech for administering access control.

  • Security, Compliance & Privacy: Implement robust data security measures and ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations. Assist with security audit and reporting process.

  • Knowledge Sharing: Develop and maintain documentation of data architecture and data standards and provide training to relevant teams on best practices. Create internal and external client-facing documentation for data services.

Requirements:

Minimum:

  • Experience with relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational (e.g., DynamoDB, DocumentDb) database technologies. Ability to design data architectures that leverage cloud services (AWS preferred - e.g., Redshift, Glue Data Catalogs, S3). Experience with SQL along with any one of Python, Java, C#, and TypeScript preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, relevant experience

  • Working experience with data and consumption models in S3.

  • Proficient in designing and implementing data models and leading data strategy for B2B SaaS products. Knowledge of scalable architectures to handle growing data volumes and user loads.

  • Experience with ETL/ELT processes and middleware technologies (e.g., AWS Glue, AWS Kinesis/Data Firehose).

  • Strong understanding of cost estimation and control on data services in public cloud.

Preferred:

  • Strong knowledge of data security principles and protocols to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive information along with ability to design and implement robust access controls to manage data access permissions.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and ensure alignment between business goals and data strategies. Ability to work in a startup, dynamic environment.

  • Strong systems thinking and analytical skills to analyze complex data issues and provide effective solutions. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues efficiently.

  • Strong inclination towards staying updated on emerging technologies and industry trends in data management along with commitment to continuous improvement and optimization of data management system.

  • Project management proficiency in planning and executing data-related projects including estimating resources, timelines, and managing risks.

  • Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. 15+ years software engineering experience with at least 10+ years' working with data management systems and architectures.
