Lockheed Martin seeks a talented, Data Architect (Systems Engineer Senior Staff) to join the team in Littleton, Colorado.

The Data Architect will assume a leading role in formulating and implementing the data architecture structure for the Hypersonic Strike Weapon System (HSWS) programs. This position is essential to the timely delivery of quality weapons system products that meet the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army critical national needs via hypersonic strike capabilities.

A data architect is a professional who designs and manages an organization's data infrastructure, including databases, data warehouses, data lakes, and other data systems. They are responsible for creating a blueprint or framework that defines how data is stored, organized, integrated, and accessed across the organization. Some of the key activities of a data architect role are:

  • Developing and implementing an overall organizational data strategy that is in line with business processes and goals.

  • Identifying data sources, both internal and external, and working out a plan for data management that is aligned with data quality, security, and compliance standards.

  • Coordinating and collaborating with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and users to understand their data needs and provide solutions.

  • Analyzing, planning, and defining data architecture framework, including security, reference data, metadata, and master data.

  • Creating and implementing data management processes and procedures, such as data governance, data modeling, data integration, data migration, data quality, and data backup.

  • Researching data acquisition opportunities and developing application programming interfaces (APIs) to retrieve data from various sources.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experienced with Data governance & mgt tools such as Collibra, Protégé, Tibco, Denodo and others

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Enterprise Architecture and Solution Architecture principles and best practices

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the data science discipline including analytics, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence

  • Extensive technical skills, such as data modeling, database design, SQL, programming, cloud computing, and/or data visualization

  • Systems Engineering experience and understanding of systems thinking skills and behaviors

  • Knowledge and application of Systems Engineering processes and functions in one or more of the following:

a) Systems Engineering standards such as ISO 15288, SAE-649, ANSI/EIA 632, Mil-STD-499 etc.

b) Systems Analysis (structured and OOA) and Model Based Engineering

c) Requirements engineering and management

d) Configuration, Change & Product Line management

  • Over 12 years minimum experience in data management, analysis, and/or engineering

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with development and execution of Design Reviews (SRR, SDR, PDR, and/or CDR) and Program Status Reviews

  • Experience with space, missile or launch systems design, development, integration, test

  • Experience throughout engineering lifecycle (system definition, design, build, test and operational deployment)

  • System-of-systems integration experience with one or more subsystems or fields outside of Systems Engineering (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Propulsion, RF, Software, etc.)

  • Demonstrated experience integrating systems to deliver a sophisticated system

  • Ability to incorporate and lead across subcontractors, suppliers, and internal IPTs

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, diverse team environment

  • Experience working in an agile environment using tools such as the Atlassian tool suite

  • Experience leading Digital Transformation and Digital Engineering efforts for large programs

  • Expertise defining, building and supporting digital twins, digital threads and graphbases

  • Ability to mentor others or provide training

  • Understanding of DoD cybersecurity requirements for systems, software, and networks

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $128,900 - $247,000 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
