Position Summary
The Data Architect is responsible for the primary strategy and data modeling design of the Enterprise Data Warehouse to consolidate data across many systems into a single source for the analytics and reporting across Kootenai Health. Works strategically to develop, direct, and implement best practices for data warehouse concepts.
Responsibilities
Provides technical development for, and continues to support, the Enterprise Data Warehouse Strategy
Designs, implements, and maintains data management capabilities including the enterprise data platform; its associated data models, ETL processes, and data architecture requirements
Enables enterprise information management by cataloging and connecting enterprise data assets into the data lake and working within the governance structure to prioritize ingestion into the structured reporting environment
Designs, creates, and manages complex business information models within the enterprise data warehouse
Works with Analytics Engineers on creation of simple models or model updates, and validates their work
Uses technical knowledge of data mapping mythologies to advise colleagues on best practices
Builds solutions that are automated, scalable, and sustainable while minimizing defects and technical debt
Monitors system health/utilization for issues and resolves issues or elevates them for resolution when necessary
Assists with the creation of standard operating procedures within the enterprise data warehouse platform to enforce uniform best practices with regard to design and deployment pipelines
Off-hours and weekends may be required to resolve emergency issues, during implementation and maintenance activities, and during on-call rotations
Performs other related duties as assigned
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required
10 years' experience in working with enterprise data platforms required; transactional and warehouse data in both cloud based and on prem environments preferred
3 years' experience working in a solutions architect or enterprise architect capacity as it relates to data and analytics strategies required
5 years' experience advanced SQL code/report writing
Epic Clarity certification/accreditation required within 120 days of hire
Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer (DP-600) certification required within 90 days of hire
Experience with ETL & Data modeling tools required (SSIS, WhereScape, Data Factory, visio, mermaid, etc.)
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, engaging with multiple technical and business stakeholders and leaders
Healthcare specific data acquisition, ingestion, and processing experience required
Extensive knowledge of designing, developing, and optimizing data structure for the analytics team and strong familiarity with Snowflake Cloud platform, Microsoft Fabric, and MS SQL Server
Familiar with advanced statistical analysis techniques and use cases as it applies to design considerations for the data warehouse
Working Conditions

Those with a primary position as a PRN will receive per diem pay. Per Diem rates are tiered depending on number of years of employment.
