Job Description

Kaplan Test Prep is looking for a strategic thinker who understands the content needs of today's learning management systems. The successful candidate will have a passion for problem-solving and an eye for information detail, able to translate complex user and system needs into clear and detailed content models and workflow maps.

Responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with the Technology team on development of core functions of the Atom Authoring Tool (Maestro), including: content templating and validation, supporting authoring workflows, version and history management, and ingest and export pipelines

  • Working with the Technology, Learning Science, and Content teams to analyze and interpret user and system requirements for instructional and assessment content on the Atom Platform

  • Developing and iterating standards-aligned content models and architecture in furtherance of Platform goals and vision

  • Assisting in coordination of Content teams and legacy content systems to enable migration of Kaplan and other client content, products, and processes onto the Atom Platform

Job requirements:

  • Experience administering or implementing content management solutions for all aspects of the content lifecycle: creation and ingest, versioning and management, search and retrieval, and delivery to end users and systems

  • Deep familiarity with IMS Global standards, including LTI, QTI, and CASE, and the ANSI/NISO guidelines on monolingual controlled vocabularies

  • Experience in content modeling and process/workflow mapping

  • Familiarity with creation and transformation of structured content in multiple markup languages; experience in XSLT, XPath, and XQuery is a plus

  • Strong communication skills: the ability to succinctly articulate salient points around a complex subject matter; success in the role depends on your ability to convey your knowledge and understanding to the team

Responsibilities RESPONSIBILITIES: * Map systems and interfaces used to manage data, set standards for data management, analyze current state and conceive desired future state * Conceive projects needed to close the gap between current state and future goals. * Uses technical knowledge and expertise to develop, innovate technical solutions that meet the needs of the business, IT and architecture vision as a whole. * Recommend data strategy implementation and best practices * Develop automated solutions for data processing, including but not limited to a real time dashboard * Provide guidance in data management and governance * Produce, develop and optimize data workflows to provide visualizations and process documentation * Identify architectural risks and plans to mitigate * Collaborate with both internal and external architects supporting other EA domains * Implement architectural governance and proactively manage issues during the delivery life cycle * Communicate the architecture through quantitative and qualitative analysis Qualifications KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: * Advanced knowledge and skills in data analysis, data modeling, data profiling, and data management of structured and unstructured data. * Advanced knowledge and understanding of established/emerging data management technologies including and not limited to data analysis, profiling, reporting/analytics, data visualization. * 5+ plus years' progressive experience in at least one of the following areas: application development, systems integration, systems engineering, network engineering, business process development, financial and insurance services. * 5+ years of experience within an Enterprise Architecture team in at least one of the following roles: Enterprise Architect, Business Architect, Information Architect, Application Architect, Technology Architect or Solution Architect; * Advanced knowledge of industry best practices in the various aspects of information, technology trends, enterprise operations knowledge and the ability to develop solutions. * Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems or related * Experience with open source software platforms and languages (e.g. Java, Linux, Apache, Perl/Python/PHP). * Previous experience with high-scale or distributed RDBMS (Teradata, Netezza, Greenplum, Aster Data, Vertica) a plus. * Knowledge of cloud computing infrastructure (e.g. Amazon Web Services EC2, Elastic MapReduce) and considerations for scalable, distributed systems. * Deep experience in Enterprise Architecture, Configuring applications, EA frameworks, Data Analytics, and Metadata Management * 5+ years experience and knowledge with the following: * Cloud Technologies * Cloudera * Collibra * Kafka * Kubernetes * NIFI * Python/R * SQL * Tableau * Certification in Tableau Desktop and Server preferred * Previous or current DHS EOD preferred Options Ambit Group Washington DC
