We are currently seeking an innovative, disciplined, and results-oriented Data Architect with relevant technical, business, and influencing skills to work in the Global Finance Technology group within the Corporate Functions Technology organization.

As a Data Architect in Global Finance Technology, you will contribute to the development and execution of a business systems roadmap that enables Finance to best support the organization's efforts to compete in an increasingly disrupted, digital and analytically-driven marketplace.

You will help shape and execute on a multi-year transformation that has high impact on the business, contributing to Finance's future system strategy including cloud & big data solutions and working closely with IT and Finance leaders to transform Finance processes. You will be responsible for developing and streamlining Finance data processes, data governance, and policy development. You will drive adoption of leading practice finance architecture, improving data quality to ensure highly-controlled finance data platform is delivered.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop data governance framework for Finance, including data governance strategy, approach, and roadmap.

  • Establish data dictionary and authoritative sources for the core data elements required to support Finance processes and reporting.

  • Recommend technological solutions to improve data quality and data integration across the financial platform.

  • Partner with Liberty Mutual IT and other enterprise data functions to drive the long-term development of financial data infrastructure, including data warehousing, reporting, and analytics platforms.

  • Review architectural designs and IT solutions to ensure consistency, maintainability, flexibility.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in technical discipline; Master's preferred.

  • 10 years of data architecture experience in a complex, multi-platform distributed environment.

  • Experience with Finance systems, data concepts, and business processes.

  • Understanding of accounting processes and terminology.

  • In-depth knowledge of IT concepts, strategies, and data architecture methodologies.

  • Experience in data quality, metadata management, data discovery, reporting, and analytics.

  • Experience in data requirements and design challenges associated with delivering data for financial reporting (management, regulatory, etc.).

  • Experience with designing the data flow in the entire Finance's end-to-end systems landscape. This landscape includes: source systems, accounting engines, sub-ledgers, data integration layers, general ledger, consolidation, analytics and reporting platforms.

  • Experience with developing data sourcing approaches, data query and analysis to meet business needs.

  • Experience with master data governance tools (e.g. Informatica, SAP MDG), finance systems / Finance ERP implementations (e.g. SAP, Hyperion, Essbase, reporting tools, finance data warehousing, data lake/big data, cloud, etc.).

  • Ability to break down complex problems and projects into manageable goals and align data initiatives with the overall Finance strategy.

  • Ability to influence across all levels of the organization and to partner effectively with cross-functional teams.

As part of the GRM Central Data Office, the Finance Data Steward will be responsible for the strategic roadmap, governance, integrity, and consumption of operational and analytics data for the enterprise. In this role you will establish and enforce enterprise data policies, standards, practices and processes according to insurance industry best practices for all lines of business. You will also monitor the use of data to ensure careful control and effective use of data to achieve enterprise objectives and help to set the strategy in moving to cloud technology. We are seeking an individual who can work under broad management direction, and at high authority limits on assignments reflecting a high degree of technical complexity and coordination. You will need to have a high level of technical knowledge and skills including finance and data systems. As a Steward overseeing the entire value chain of finance data, you will be responsible for maintaining alignment and strong collaboration with application, data, and analytics teams. The Data Steward will be a leader for the Finance data domain in helping to define the current and go forward strategy for data excellence. Responsibilities: * Under the broadest management direction, implements, automates, and strengthens data management controls across a single function with a regional scope in mind. * Leverages strong influence and collaboration capabilities to partner with IT and business teams (stakeholders and contributors) and ensure strategic alignment. * Identifies and manages the resolution of highly technical data quality issues in a cost-effective and timely fashion. Identifies quality metrics and thresholds by working with the business data owners and users. As a recognized technical expert, own and publish reports related to quality metrics along with root cause analysis and mitigation options to the end user community. * Able to manage data throughout its lifecycle from creation to retirement by participating in the development, definition, and execution of policies, guidelines, and quality control procedures for the reporting and dissemination of data. * Demonstrates a mastery over multiple domains (i.e. MDM, lineage, data security, data quality, etc.) in solving business use cases. Creates an access strategy to ensure effective implementation across the enterprise. Develops and defines data validation, verification, and reconciliation strategies to support data governance, stewardship, and security. * Able to influence decision makers on the outcome of an initiative based on its perceived value, and to influence the prioritization of data management solutions. Works with stakeholders to define metrics that are impactful for the business. * Ability to communicate how technical design meets business needs to a senior audience. Has a command of industry trends and business processes. * Strong understanding of architecture best practices. Ability to architect and develop solutions to meet technical and business requirements, and perform iterative testing to ensure desired specifications are met. * Helps to set the strategy for the go forward data structure in the space of Finance systems. Qualifications: * Bachelor's or Master's degree in business or technical discipline or equivalent experience.
