We are seeking a forward thinking data architect to design and build enterprise level systems that effectively support a large matrix organization. This role will establish patterns and practices that enable innovation and modern technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence. Design and build effective conceptual and logical data models that support predictive analysis and visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, R) with a focus on efficiency, security and availability of all data across multiple systems.

  • Oversee design and implementations of various database technologies

  • Coordinate with the data science initiatives to identify future needs and requirements

  • Grow and facilitate the discipline of master data management for the firm

  • Analyze structural requirements for new software and applications

  • Plan data migration from legacy systems to new solutions

  • Design conceptual and logical data models and flowcharts with supporting documentation

  • Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting and integrating new elements

  • Optimize new and current database systems

  • Occasionally provide operational support and consultations for other technology departments and efforts



  • 4-10 years of experience as a Data Architect, Data Scientist, Data Analyst or similar role required

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required

  • In-depth understanding of database structure principles required

  • Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements required

  • Knowledge of data mining and segmentation techniques required

  • Expertise in SQL and MS Excel required

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools required

  • Ability to establish priorities, manage deadlines, exercise a high degree of professionalism in interactions with all levels of internal and external clients required

  • Financial Industry experience preferred

  • Experience with Azure cloud services is preferred

What you'll do on a typical day: * Work with leadership to understand needs and align those with potential data and analytics efforts * Gather and integrate data from various sources for use in advanced analytics efforts * Identify, analyze, and interpret trends, patterns, and relationships in complex data sets using advanced analytics tools and models * Prepare findings in a professional manner, presenting results and providing actionable recommendations to leadership * Promote a data-driven culture through ongoing partnership and dialog with the business What you need to succeed at XPO: At a minimum, you'll need: * Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, Physics, or analytics related field * 3 years of experience in quantitative analytics * Proficiency with Microsoft Office * Proficiency with Power BI, Tableau, and Oracle BI; Python, R, CPLEX, SQL, and VBA * Demonstrated experience with database design, data models, and integration/extraction technologies * Strong knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical modeling (logistic regression, SVMs, etc.) to solve business problems * Knowledge of statistical modeling techniques: Linear/logistic regression (including advanced predictor selection techniques), classification (decision trees, random forests), Support Vector Machines (SVMs), neural networks, etc. It'd be great if you also have: * Master's degree in data science or related field * 5 years of experience in quantitative analytics * Experience with text analytics (e.g., semantic analysis) * Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy Be part of something big.
