Position Title Data Architect Department The Dartmouth Institute Position Number 1126805 Hiring Range Minimum $87,100 Hiring Range Maximum $108,800 Advertisement Text Position Purpose

To build, optimize and maintain conceptual and logical database models for researchers using highly confidential data resources in a FISMA compliant information system. Will analyze system requirements and implement migration methods for existing data. Provide data visualization and social network analytic expertise in support of infrastructure and research faculty projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent.

  • 3-5 year's experience with data analysis, extraction, and visualization using statistical software (R, S-Plus, SAS, or similar), databases and scripting languages (such as Python)

  • 3-5 year's experience with data mining, data analytics and process design.

  • Working knowledge of data warehousing concepts and design patterns, including designing schemas, data flows and data object models.

  • Strong data visualization expertise, including hands-on experience with Tableau.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in computer science or computer engineering preferred.

  • Excellent quantitative modeling, statistical analysis skills and problem-solving skills.

  • Sophisticated user of statistical methods and tools.

  • Extensive architecture and design experience with complex applications across various data platforms (Relational, NoSQL, Big Data).

  • Experience with Postgres, HDFS, Hive, Spark, Presto, NoSQL.

  • Knowledge of Agile development methodology and concepts.

  • Depth of knowledge in machine learning algorithms.

  • Advanced custom data visualization experience.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively advocate technical solutions to research scientists, engineering teams and business audiences

  • Proven ability to effectively mentor analytic activities, interacting with all levels of staff, management and executive leadership both internally and externally.

  • Proven ability to use sound judgement when interacting with internal and external collaborators.

  • Outstanding interpersonal, oral & written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated data management and statistical methodology expertise.

  • Ability to work independently, taking initiative to advance methods and studies proactively.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

  • Assess, document and develop database solutions to optimally store and retrieve DAC data to ensure functionality. Develop and present logic data models and flow charts to define the conceptual framework. (20%)
  • Migrate data from legacy system to new solutions in line with presented framework. (45%)
  • In collaboration with centralized Dartmouth Computing services, analyze structural requirements for software and applications. (5%)
  • In collaboration with Dartmouth ITC and DAC Director of Operations, help define data governance and understand compliance and protection requirements in order to support security procedures development. (5%)
  • Continually learn and present emerging technologies to identify potential solutions for future needs and requirements. (5%)
  • Provide data visualization support to infrastructure and research teams. (10%)
  • Provide network analysis support to research teams, primarily using Python. (10%)
