Data Architect - Customer Facing Analytics

We have an exceptional opportunity for a Data Architect who will be responsible for leading the architecture, design, and implementation of new capabilities across multiple data and analytics projects for our Customer & Digital Marketing divisions. C.H. Robinson is continuing to grow and evolve the Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence and Advanced Analytics practices. The Data Architect must have a deep knowledge of the traditional data systems as well as the various analytical tools and technologies we utilize. This architect will also be a leader in advancing our data solutions as we evolve our cloud based strategies and invest in the latest industry concepts and tools. They must also lead us in the development of an ecosystem delivering data management, business intelligence and advanced analytics capabilities used to deliver insights and guidance to a broad network of internal and external users. The leader will align with a team of analysts, data engineers and other architects to deliver on our end-to-end data and analytics strategy with an emphasis on low latency data architecture and data product solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership in the architecture, design and implementation of the data engineering best practices; including some hands-on development where needed.

  • Support, maintain, and enhance capabilities focused on data technology within the environment using technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server, Azure, Snowflake, Kafka, Hive, or other modern database technologies

  • Collaborate with enterprise architects, product owners, data analysts and engineers to determine the designs and technology required to deliver business value thru analytics projects

  • Contribute to the product data architecture roadmap aligned with maintaining the integrity of our data management practice and satisfying the business need to quickly deliver business value

  • Collaborate with a range of stakeholders and leaders in IT and the business

  • Architect, design, deliver, test, and troubleshoot complex data implementations

  • Coordinate with solution architects and engineers to evolve the data, governance and analytics strategy

  • Guide, mentor and influence architectural direction and principles adoption

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics and/or equivalent work experience

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 10+ years of experience implementing data warehouse solutions

  • 3+ years of experience delivering solutions using Microsoft SQL Server or related RDBMS technology

  • 1+ year of development experience using Hive, HBase or other Hadoop technologies

  • Proficiency with analytics, optimization, database and data visualization tools,

  • Experience in designing data lake/warehouse for data integration from enterprise wide applications/systems

  • Lambda architecture for ingestion including real-time streaming technologies (Kafka, Spark Streaming, etc)

  • Knowledge about data replication, data masking, and performance factors, etc.

  • Ability to combine strong analytical and technical skills with business skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders

  • Designs and develops complex and large-scale data structures and pipelines to organize, collect and standardize data to generate insight

  • Cloud - development and vendor implementation experience

  • Knowledge of delivering and retrieval of large datasets into third party tools (Microsoft Dynamics, Marketo, Medallia)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Database experience with: SSIS, Azure, Snowflake, Elastic Search, MongoDB, Redis and/or other NoSQL/ technologies

  • Business Intelligence experience with: QlikView, PowerBI, Tableau and/or other reporting tools

  • Knowledge of or Experience with Clickstream solutions: Adobe Analytics

  • Knowledge of or Experience with UI integrations: DevOps, C#.NET, Angular JS React, Python, R, Spark, Node.JS, HTML5, CSS, RESTful Services, D3, Big Data (Spark, Cloudera, Hortonworks) ecosystems

  • Knowledge of or experience with container and orchestration technologies, for example, Docker, Mesos, and Marathon.

  • Knowledge of or experience with data science applications such as Anaconda, Rails, Jupyter Notebook, Superset, RStudio, or NIFI
