Position Summary
The Center for Translational Bioinformatics (CTBI) at Washington University is recruiting a data architect to work in a team environment towards the development of a beyond state-of-the-art, next-generation artificial intelligence system for precision systems medicine. This platform will be capable of ingesting medical knowledge from a multitude of sources including text, such as journal articles, as well as data from omics, chemical, and healthcare sources.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Identifies and pursues opportunities to acquire, store and deliver data more efficiently and effectively.
Advises upcoming and ongoing projects on data integration activities.
Researches and investigates new and improved data sources to respond to customer needs.
Facilitates effective data-sharing.
Develops, maintains and revises effective data management practices and procedures.
Provides scope and time estimates for data-related activities for prospective effort.
Evaluates the data needs for projects and advise on approaches and solutions to meet them.
Develops and maintains data diagrams and models using approved tools.
Develops, reviews and revises project code and other developed content to resolve discrepancies and improve data performance.
Development, including coding and testing, of solutions for end-to-end data processing pipelines,
Designs, implements, and maintains databases and interfaces for interacting with databases.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with business analysis and technical analysis.
Prior experience as a data architect or data engineer, including data modeling, data gap analysis, data quality assessment and remediation and data process review and improvement.
Academic only experience will be considered but some commercial/industry software development experience.
Motivated candidate with a desire to take on new scientific challenges.

Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree plus five years data related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary Range
$82,500.00 - $145,200.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
