As part of the Enterprise Data Office (EDO), the Service Owner will be responsible for managing one or more data services throughout the entire lifecycle, including: business intelligence, advanced analytics, data platforms, and other tools. Service owners are instrumental in the development of service strategy, and are responsible for daily oversight of the service portfolio throughout the organization regardless of where the technology components or professional capabilities reside. Service owners focus on users of the service, working closely with platform owners, who focus on keeping the underlying technology running effectively.
This role is accountable for:
Ensuring that the service meets user needs in a cost effective manner
Collaborating with users and technology partners throughout the organization to effectively manage data services through all phases of the service value chain, including: planning, design, transition, build/buy, delivery/support, and continuous improvement
Leading a team of employees and vendor partners across the United States and India on various initiatives, though the position may not have direct reports
Product ownership of Agile user stories related to the service
Evaluating and implementing new and emerging tools
Manage customer/user interaction with EDO
Define Agile user stories, acceptance criteria, and coordinate stakeholder engagement for new service implementations
Provide second-level support for business requests/issues
Identify customer needs (software/training/etc.)
Recommend best practices/alternatives
Approve/negotiate impactful infrastructure changes
Represent the service/platform in financial discussions
Enforce self-service model
Establish service level expectations/agreements
Ensure continual customer satisfaction through use of surveys, feedback, etc.
Build a thriving community of practice including:
Build/facilitate training plan
Lunch and learns
Community site with discussion board, etc.
Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field. Experience may be gained as part of a qualifying post-baccalaureate academic program.
At least 5 or more years of solid, diverse work experience in IT, database management, analytics or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
Solid understanding and experience with IT operations, data management, project delivery, Agile methodologies, and proven leadership capabilities
Experience in the Financial Services industry is preferred
Experience with Cloud based data technologies such as AWS, snowflake is preferred
Self-motivated, curious and analytical with a broad knowledge of technology alternatives
Ability to work effectively with business clients and IT resources
Strong communication, collaboration, and customer focus skills
Ability to learn new concepts and technologies quickly, and perform major job responsibilities proficiently within 6-12 months
