Job Description:

At Regions, the Data and Analytics Analyst transforms data into a meaningful format for operational and/or decision-making purposes. Focusing on day-to-day deliverables, this role works with senior analysts and managers to gather and interpret data for leaders to make data-driven decisions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Modifies reports that are valuable, readable, and presentable to stakeholders

  • Assists in the preparation of visual reports/presentations to present analysis to management

  • Interprets, analyzes, and provides insights to teams and managers to determine operational impact, trends, and opportunities

  • Performs data analysis to help achieve data automation

  • Creates and maintains databases to help classify & store information

  • Completes day-to-day deliverables and ad-hoc data reports to support business needs/projects and answer data related questions

  • Ensures compliance by performing quality data audits, mining, and management

  • Monitors data and analytics trends and seeks opportunities for continuous improvement

  • May offer guidance to junior analysts, ensuring proper training and tools are provided

  • Partners with the centralized Data Governance team to implement and support data governance and data quality requirements

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.


  • Master's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Statistics, or related field and two (2) years of experience in a data analytics or related role

  • Or, a Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Statistics, or related field and four (4) years of experience in a data analytics or related role


  • Experience utilizing analytical software such as Structured Query Language (SQL), Statistical Analysis System (SAS), SAS Enterprise Miner, and applicable Microsoft Office applications

  • Working knowledge of business intelligence software (e.g. Tableau, Power BI)

Skills and Competencies

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

  • Strong verbal, written communication, and organizational skills

  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation

Provides analytical support and business level guidance in creation and distribution of enterprise business intelligence reporting. Provides expert knowledge of current Informational Delivery Platform tools, methods, and best practices, and recommends and implements process improvements. Supports detailed informational analytics support for current and future information reporting needs, distributed via electronically or paper-based, at various levels of the organization. Develops deployment strategies utilizing efficient reporting processes and information retrieval/distribution. Actively participates and provides subject matter expertise in the Informational Projects focusing on solving issues from the business point of view. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: * Consults regularly with assigned line of businesses to understand their strategic plan, goals, and business issues. * Consults with management team to identify and define strategic business issues/requirements for analysis. * Translates business issues into analyses and designs appropriate systems extracts, files, and reports to address the business issues. * Writes and presents recommendations based on analysis, providing insight, knowledge, and understanding of business, products, markets, and industry. * Acts as subject matter expert on customer data & integrations. * Works with a cross-functional marketing team to develop and execute a strategic marketing plan for the line of business and ensures value proposition relevancy and effectiveness. * Works with various information sources to develop appropriate strategic recommendations to leadership, including customer analysis, market analysis, competitive analysis, financial reports, product trend reports, and industry reports. * Continuously works towards improving the quality and relevance of information resources. * Collaborates with Business Intelligence Analysts to design reporting, analyses, and lists that are aligned with the strategy and goals of the lines of business. * Presents recommendations, analysis, reporting, and research findings to internal audiences by synthesizing complex data and concerts into easy to comprehend, comprehensive, and cohesive presentations. * Researches any trends, either positive or negative, in the loan and deposit portfolios, and researches the reason and implications of such changes(s). * Assists in design of the business rules and strategy for Client and Relationship Management hub under the Informational approach. * Provides information and analysis that guides strategic thinking and supports decision making. * Provides business need validation in business intelligence development and release cycle, with intake and priority review, and communicates to business and end-user community. * Works with data management team to identify and document data gaps necessary for information requests and enhancements, and assists in validation once delivered.
