Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Data Analyst to join our Business Intelligence team. The ideal candidate has exceptional analytical skills and is adept at solving complex problems and creating elegant business solutions. The Data Analyst assesses basic information needs, designs studies, analyzes results and delivers key findings in support of business leaders. The Data Analyst, with considerable latitude for independent action and judgment, will analyze, design, build, publish, program, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and implement and maintain legacy reports and PowerBI dashboards. Work on multiple projects independently and larger team based projects. Position requires excellent SQL programming skills and experience with the Microsoft BI Stack (SQL Server 2017, SSRS, SSAS), Visual Studio, and PowerBI.

  • Code and design SSRS reports, end user dashboards and retrieve Ad hoc data sets from the business intelligence environment.

  • Collaborate in collecting to define functional requirements, document and contribute to technical design discussions

  • Provide estimates and plans for report initiatives as requests are obtained from different departments and company stakeholders

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and support special projects needs simultaneously.

  • Use optimized SQL server queries to efficiently and quickly retrieve data. Work with the Data Delivery Team Lead on different methods of SSRS query design and to find solutions that meet the requestors needs.

  • Create and design reports as best-practice solutions that support business reporting tasks. This will be achieved in using different programs and software, such as SSRS, SSAS, Microsoft Excel, MS SQL Server, SharePoint and other tools.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced team environment and self-manage, work well under pressure meeting tight deadlines and possess excellent interpersonal skills to work well with employees at all levels.

  • Resolve and Troubleshoot Report and data issues reported by end-users or support desk.

  • Maintain a record of different reporting processes in place and help to improve Report team goals with regard to report and data management.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or at least 4 years of work-related experience

1-2 years of business intelligence experience building reports and/or dashboards

Insurance Industry Experience Highly Preferred

Required Experience:

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2017 tools and technologies (SSRS, SSAS)

  • Experience using data visualization tools (PowerBI or Tableau)

  • Strong analytical skills, able to translate complex business requirements into sound solutions

  • Demonstrates depth of knowledge in data modeling, data transformation & designing analytical data structures including tabular and multi-dimensional

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in good grammatical form, as well as effectiveness of expression in individual and group situations

  • An understanding of analysis and research with a basic understanding or dataset, programming, querying, report design and dashboard design required.

  • Experience with Power BI and/or Tableau

  • Experience developing multi-dimensional data models

  • Strong SQL skills with experience creating complex queries, building stored procedures, or creating views to support the data analysis requirements.
