The Data Analyst position is responsible for identifying and developing solutions to turn data into actionable business recommendations. You will work closely with management, accounting and IT personnel to transform subjective discussions into clear decision-making solutions.

This position is designed to perform duties alongside staff inside our Castle Rock office. Please do not apply if you are not local to Denver Metro Area.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Field data needs and/or information from internal staff
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement in data performance and quality
  • Responds to data inquiries from various groups within an organization
  • Develop ad hoc results for isolated inquiries
  • Creates and publishes regularly scheduled reports
  • Documents reporting requirements and processes
  • Perform data validation and cleansing
  • May require some off hours support

The position is salaried and full-time, Monday through Friday in our Castle Rock office. Start time can be flexible from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM.


The Data Analyst will be, or possess:

  • Ability to exploit and manipulate data from structured and unstructured data sources
  • Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and applications
  • Ability to multitask without sacrificing quality and accuracy of deliverables
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner
  • Experience with business intelligence tools (MS Power BI, Tableau, Domo, etc.) a plus
  • Knowledge of transact SQL experience a plus
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

This position will require critical integration with the JDEdwards team and Human Resources to analyze and improve business process design and workflow and leverage the return on investments in technology. This position is responsible for driving value on the Douglas County's Human Resources Department software application portfolio. Work is performed in collaboration with County IT, Human Resources, and third-party vendors and will support the application administration of software such as JDEdwards and Cornerstone as well as integration with a suite of third-party products. The ideal candidate will have a blend of HR process best practices and knowledge and IT skills in facilitation of business requirements and process modeling. The candidate must be able to participate in project, support and vendor management activities for HR products and processes. The Senior HRIS Analyst acts as an expert member within IT Application Services and is responsible for the overall configuration, maintenance, administration and technical support of applications and platforms to ensure compatibility and integration with business operations and enterprise strategies. In coordination with the Information Technology (IT) Project Management Office (PMO), this role will assist in defining project scope, requirements, timeline, systems analysis, application implementation, support, and vendor management. Examples of Duties ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Key duties and responsibilities of the Senior HRIS Analyst position include, but are not limited to, the items listed below. * Understanding, in depth, the business processes supported by the system and facilitate re-engineering sessions * Analyzes and understands business users' requirements, clarifying inconsistencies, conflicts, or ambiguities, to effectively model business processes in software. * Responsible for application administration, core system training, testing, support plan development, tier-2 support, incident and problem management * Corrects identified bugs encountered through the implementation and support processes as part of the County's testing methodology. * Develop and maintain relations with 3rd party vendors * Primary resource for needs analysis and solutions determination * Adheres to established Douglas County best practices, standards and agreed upon design patterns for application implementation, application configuration, user interfaces, integration, naming, and testing on the application platforms they support. * Participates in a team-based, Scrum, development environment acting as a proxy product owner. * Maintains inventory of documentation for application and data architecture; and core business processes supported by the applications portfolio. * Documents application implementations, configurations, training, and support requirements. * Troubleshoots and resolves application, configuration and data integrity issues. * Creates and maintains reports on the supported platform(s). OTHER DUTIES: Performs other duties as assigned including, but not limited to: participating in projects where their skills are applicable. This could include, but are not limited to, work on business intelligence efforts, workflow, and web page content management. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but may function in a lead capacity in collaborating with cross-functional teams. Minimum Qualifications EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: * A Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems or a closely related field from an accredited college or university; or applicable job experience is required. * Two years' experience of platform development or configuration and support of COTS, ERP, SAAS or PAAS applications. * Familiar with methodologies such as Project Management, Agile and Waterfall * Experience configuring and maintaining applications in a multiplatform environment * Experience using Ad-hoc reporting tools and Structure Query Language (SQL) queries * Previous software configuration experience preferred. * Functional and process knowledge in areas such as human resources, human services, elections and other relevant Douglas County departments is preferred. Consequences of errors may result in unacceptable performance, poor quality software, failure to create software that meets the business needs, which may ultimately increase the cost of software development. These impacts may in turn affect Douglas County operations. CONTACTS: Requires substantive contact with internal customers, Software Engineers, Business Analysts, Project Managers, Quality Assurance, IT Operations, and Enterprise Architecture staff. INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT: Incumbent is given broad terms and format, allowing a great amount of latitude and individual judgment to accomplish goals and achieve desired results. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally performed in a typical office environment. Ability to work beyond scheduled hours and respond to production issues and business needs in a time critical manner is required. In the event of an emergency/disaster in or near the County, all County employees are expected to make every effort to be available to assist the County Manager, Elected/Appointed Officials and Department Directors to ensure the continued operation of any and all necessary County functions. This may mean being available to perform additional duties and hours beyond what is normally required. In the event that an exempt employee does work more than 40 hours a week in support of County operations during an emergency, such employee may receive overtime or other appropriate wage compensation in accordance with existing County policies or at the discretion of the County.
