The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness has openings for two full-time University Staff (unclassified) Data Analyst positions.

Position Emphasis:

The Data Analyst will participate in several efforts of the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness (OIRE). This includes responding to recurring and ad hoc requests for data/information about CU Denver and CU Anschutz.

The primary responsibilities of this position are to:

  • Respond to requests for information and analysis from within CU Denver and CU Anschutz (administration, school/colleges, faculty, staff, and students) by combining, analyzing, and interpreting data resulting from operational activities of CU Denver | Anschutz to provide information that supports institutional planning, policy formulation and decision making.

  • Prepare mandatory and ad hoc analyses and reports for CU System administration, state/federal agencies, and other external constituencies.

  • Organize, combine, summarize, and analyze data about students and/or faculty/staff from a variety of sources, including identification of new or enhanced sources as needed.

  • Design and adjust data models to respond flexibly to a constantly evolving and dynamic analytics agenda.

Must be able to use a variety of tools to present, summarize, and manipulate data (including creating tables, charts and graphs).

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring range for this position has been established at $55,000 to $68,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, social sciences, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution and 1 year of professional level experience in data analysis and reporting.

  • Experience working with SQL, SAS, SPSS or other data management or data warehousing tools.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years of professional level experience in data analysis and reporting.

  • Experience in data visualization tools, particularly Tableau

  • Experience designing reports in COGNOS

  • Experience in higher education analytics or similar role

  • Experience analyzing human resources and/or student related data

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.

  • Proficiency in using data from data warehouses/relational databases and assembling data from a variety of sources.

  • Understanding of relational database concepts and queries.

  • Ability to analyze implications of changes in methods, input data, and policies.

  • Proven skills in statistical methods, predictive analytic models, and/or related analytic techniques
