Who We Are

Sponsored Research Services (SRS) is a consortium of research administrators supporting Texas A&M University System members. We provide efficient and superior research administration services to members of The Texas A&M University System in Brazos County, Galveston and Qatar. SRS teams work with stakeholders to provide expertise and assistance with proposal submissions, in negotiation of external contracts, and in project administration throughout the life of the award. What We Want

We are seeking a Data Analyst who will assist in gathering, compiling, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting of financial data; monitor the budget and other financial-related duties for SRS. The preferred candidate will have a bachelor's degree, two years of related experience, strong statistical, analytical, and comprehension skills, knowledge of applications used at Texas A&M University and advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, SAP Web Intelligence (Business Objects), and SQL. Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Three years of related experience in data collection and analysis.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical capabilities with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, interpersonal, proofreading, and time management skills.

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

  • Ability to apply problem-solving skills to complex problems, prioritize and manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to multi-task, and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong statistical, analytical, and comprehension skills.

  • Knowledge of applications used at Texas A&M University, which may include Maestro, FAMIS/Canopy, Business Objects, AggieBuy, Laserfiche, and Workday.

  • Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, SAP Web Intelligence (Business Objects), and SQL.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting- Collects financial data. Assists in the preparation of departmental budgets and the SRS assessment model. Assists in monitoring and preparing budgets to actual financial reports for management. Analyzes and interprets data. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Programming- Develops, maintains, and updates data for Laserfiche. Assists in monitoring and updating Laserfiche products, SQL and Access databases used for streamlining business processes and increasing productivity. Collaborates with internal groups to provide digital solutions. Maintains SRS website.

  • Processing- Performs daily bookkeeping functions, create ad-hoc data reports, maintain Laserfiche applications, and assists with year-end compliance.

  • Audit Coordination-Assists in coordinating with internal and external auditors. Works with auditors to schedule audit work. Attends entrance and exit meetings. Works to provide requested documentation. Assists in the development of management responses to audit observations. Responds to requests for information and prepares ad-hoc reports and query analyses in desired formats.

  • Performance Metrics- Assists in preparing monthly and quarterly performance metrics. Collects, compiles, and reports on performance measurement data. Performs ad-hoc data analysis to assist management in achieving objectives.
