General Purpose of the Position:

As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to provide insights and recommendations to support business decisions that drive revenue growth and operational efficiency. The Data Analyst will interact with various departments within Switch to create new processes and reporting metrics for internal and external stakeholders. The position will report directly to Switchs VP of Financial Planning & Analysis.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand their requirements, gather data, and develop analytical solutions to solve complex business problems

  • Assist in the development and production of monthly dashboard reports, providing regular updates on YTD, quarterly, and monthly performance to management

  • Develop business cases and perform cost-benefit analyses to evaluate the feasibility of new strategic initiatives

  • Conduct research and analysis on market trends, customer behavior, and competition to identify growth opportunities and recommend strategies for business improvement

  • Analyze and report on business metrics and KPIs to provide insights that will drive revenue growth and operational efficiency

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, finance, and marketing, to ensure alignment and effective implementation of strategic initiatives

  • Prepare presentations and reports to communicate findings, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels of the organization

  • Visualize, diagram, and document business processes that are to be automated through software development

  • Use financial systems and advanced Excel functions to work with large data sets

  • Assist departments with cost benefit analysis modeling for special projects on an ad-hoc basis

  • Perform other duties and special projects as needed and directed

  • Document applicable technical meetings and discussions as necessary

Required Job Skills:

  • Ability to understand and thrive within complex analytical environments

  • Ability to be flexible to changing environment, acknowledging urgency when necessary

  • Outstanding written and verbal communicator, high-level technical proficiency, analytical, and productive

  • Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in Excel, SQL, and tools such as Power BI (SQL, Python, DAX, M Language)

  • Proficient at defining, diagramming, and documenting business processes and procedures

  • Skilled at converting defined business processes into technical software specifications

  • Familiar with defining software development action items from technical specifications

Computer Equipment and Software:

  • Microsoft Office Suites (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Salesforce (CRM)

  • Mind Map, Visio, and/or similar Visualization products

  • Power Bi, Workday Adaptive, and/or similar warehousing system

Education and Experience:

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelors degree in business administration, finance, economics or a related field

  • Equivalent technical schooling and/or work experience may be considered

  • Related certifications are all a plus

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in business analysis or related field

  • Experience in the data center industry is a plus
