The Data Analyst obtains quality data and communicates the story behind the data to support leaders in identifying the best ways to meet student, staff, parent, and community needs. The Data Analyst secures information from stakeholders, maps data to determine trends, and disaggregates results working collaboratively with other departments to solve challenges that arise when integrating data from various platforms. The Data Analyst queries staff on various technological problems related to District information and data systems, analyzes the responses, assists with solutions, and regularly monitors database information to ensure accuracy. The Data Analyst serves as a technical resource to District personnel and performs related work as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Minimum of 3 years of SIS data entry or data analysis experience or equivalent. Two years of college-level coursework/training can be substituted for 1 year of work experience.

  • Educational leadership preferred

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Knowledge and Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of the District software, web-based programs, and SIS programs at the District, elementary, and secondary levels

  • Demonstrated competency in accuracy and completeness of data in SIS and other worksite programs

  • Ability to provide professional learning and training to others

  • Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs

  • Thorough knowledge of office practices and procedures, English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation necessary to produce reports, agendas, minutes, and training manuals

  • Expertise in software, database, and dashboard platforms

  • Knowledge of data management, reporting, and database design concepts with strong skills in gathering/organizing/querying/analyzing/interpreting data, and applying concepts to assist in formulating conclusions and developing recommendations

  • Ability to coordinate a variety of projects, work with limited supervision, and multi-task while maintaining patience and flexibility

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Acts as the district or department level subject matter expert for assigned information systems and data analysis functions of assigned area; provides information and support to administrators, staff, and other end users as needed;

  • Provides support to District and school site clerical and administrative personnel in a professional manner to maintain optimum program operation;

  • Provides technical support, problem resolution, and general training of student information systems and other related applications;

  • Audits school and other information sources and researches as needed to ensure all related data and data entries are accurate and timely;

  • Maintains current and extensive knowledge of updates and changes to the SIS program and can provide to SIS users with clear and concise directions related to such changes;

  • Functions as a resource on District and campus procedures related to the SIS program and data management and consults with District and site staff on professional learning needs;

  • Organizes and prepares SIS program documentation;

  • Assists in student testing as related to the SIS.

  • Effectively communicates step-by-step instructions on software usage via the telephone, email, and site visits;

  • Maintains confidentiality of SIS information.

  • Professionally collaborates with internal and external personnel to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions based on the SIS information.

  • Provides professional learning to District and site personnel in the use of the software programs and prepares related training and informational materials;

  • Troubleshoots software program problems via phone, email, and site visits and finds effective solutions.

  • Performs tasks that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of people who will use the SIS programs;

  • Develops user-friendly reports, dashboards, and visualization of data;

  • Assists in the identification of areas in software programs that may benefit from improvement, performs part of the analysis to develop improvement strategies, and implements those strategies by ongoing training of users;

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of evolving features for student and related information systems, software releases, problem-solving techniques, and report development tools;

  • Assists in the preparation of State and federal-mandated reports;

  • Uses required database software to provide enhanced reporting based on data;

  • Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports related to assigned activities;

  • Prioritizes and completes work within required schedules and deadlines;

  • Reviews and verifies input and output data to assure accuracy and efficiency;

  • Learns, comprehends, and interprets District policies using independent judgment, and

  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

  • Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

  • Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching

  • Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)

  • Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent districtwide, statewide, and out-of-state travel; ability to drive to school sites

  • Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress

This is a 226-day contract position.

The position requires work to be done in person and on-site.

Salary is Commensurate with Experience.
