Class Description


The Office of the State's Attorney is seeking to fill the position of Data Analyst. The Data Analyst provides support for the Crime Strategies Unit (CSU) and executive staff of the Office of the State's Attorney for Baltimore City.

The Data Analyst is responsible for professional-level work in the area of crime analysis and data-driven prosecution. The Data Analyst will work with various intelligence sources and data sets to draw connections between individuals and organizations, identify crime trends, and examine impediments to optimal administration of justice in Baltimore's criminal justice system. The Data Analyst will also assist CSU in the production of briefings and reports detailing these findings.

This full-time position is located at 120 East Baltimore St., Baltimore, Md.

This is an at-will position with no civil service protection.


Applicants must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Applicants with an advanced degree or equivalent coursework/experience in a related field (computer science, information systems, statistical analysis, or similar) are preferred.

Prior legal, law-enforcement, or criminal-justice experience is helpful but not required.

Experience using Semantica, i2 Analyst Notebook, ArcGIS, Penlink and Microsoft Words programs is required. Experience in coding programs (i.e. SQL, JAVA) preferred.

Applicants must possess excellent written communication and computer skills, be highly organized, able to work independently, think critically, and meet deadlines.

Selected candidate will be required to submit to drug and alcohol testing as well as a criminal background check before starting employment.

Salary: Salary starting at $60,655.
