Data Analyst, EDI - Contractor

As a Data Analyst Contractor with our EDI team, you will be responsible for extracting and sending outbound EDI files. You will be tasked with ensuring that outbound data is sent accurately and within client processing deadlines, and with tracking daily metrics. A candidate for this position should be comfortable working independently in a technical environment.

Responsibilities:

  • For simple to medium complex file feeds, extract data files, validating results leveraging validating tools, execute work-arounds, and communicating back to internal teams and external teams

  • Perform triage, root cause analysis, and corrections to data issues found during validations

  • Perform triage, root cause analysis, and corrections to data issues reported by customers or exceptions reports

  • Review analysis work performed by global Data Analysts to ensure accuracy

  • Coordinate fixes or improvements to data issues across multiple departments

  • Resolve customer and internal escalations in a timely manner

  • Track on-going operational metrics

  • Execute testing on new product releases for data processing related changes

  • Execute tasks related to operationalizing new process and tool improvements

  • Train new team members on processes and tools for performing Data Analyst duties

  • Identify file specific opportunities to improve our processes or technology to achieve increased efficiency and/or quality

  • Process ad hoc test and production files and open enrollment files

  • Proactively notify internal teams if/when files will not meet their agreed upon deadlines

  • Communicate directly with internal, customer and third party teams regarding data processes and issues

  • Exercise independent judgment in escalating issues to management

  • Develop relationships with internal Benefitfocus teams and customers

  • Occasional weekend and off hours support

  • Time allocation 50 - 75% File Processing, 25 - 50% Analysis/Research

Experience and Skills:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent

  • Must be able to work across multiple departments to support internal customers

  • Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Prior Salesforce experience a plus

  • Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)

The Data Analyst I must demonstrate competency, as defined in the department's training program, prior to performing independent work. This position will work with department management and quality team members to ensure that data analysis activities are defined, documented and completed to support inspection readiness and that compliance is maintained through procedures, training, documentation and continuous improvement projects. * The schedule will be 5 - 8 hour shifts Mon-Fri, or 4 - 10's with a Saturday included.* Responsibilities Each employee's specific job responsibilities are uniquely defined by their individual training plan and assigned duties, but are generally defined as follows: Complying with the laboratory's technical, administrative and safety policies and procedures.Participating in the laboratory's quality assurance plan, adhering to quality control and preventive maintenance policies and appropriately documenting these activities.Following the laboratory's policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within acceptable limits and documenting the problem and any corrective action.Troubleshooting and identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance and/or reporting of test results by initiating corrective action and using the defined electronic system to make the required management notification.Performing proficiency testing in the same manner as routine samples.Actively participating in successful and timely completion of training and competency assessment as outlined in the laboratory and departmental training programs.Where competency has not been approved by supervision, will work under the direct supervision of an employee competent on the task.Participating in continuing education according to accepted laboratory standards.Participates in department and cross functional teams to resolve problems or implement projects.Qualifications Supporting documentation for the education and experience requirements are maintained in the employee's personnel file.
