Our Data Analyst earns a competitive hourly salary of $31.31 - $33.89 based on qualifications. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A DATA ANALYST

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this job. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the development and planning of management and strategic projects by conducting research, performing statistical analysis, and preparing formal and ad-hoc reports for city management and council consideration.
  • Research, analyze, and prepare financial and performance reports for review and submission to Fire Department Administration.
  • Create and maintain real-time dashboards.
  • Create and maintain annual reports to Fire Department administration for council and hard copy annual reports to release to the public.
  • Assist in collecting and compiling information for surveys and researching trends in fire department management and operations, including demographic trends and infrastructure issues relative to Pearland to effectively promote project analysis. Serve as a single-point source for information and publications gathering and assist with website data maintenance.
  • Recommend strategies and technical resource allocation to ensure effectiveness of department used programs.
  • Maintains data collected from various sources to readily compile ad-hoc reports due to emerging trends and present to Fire Department administration.
  • Prepares comprehensive reports and presentations for Department presentations to council, public, city management and city-wide functions.
  • Responsible for creating marketing tools for the Department in coordination with Community Risk Reduction goals and needs.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with residents, fire department staff and other employees in person, writing and by telephone.
  • Prepare correspondence and other publications for the department as requested. Process and complete detailed forms and reports as directed.
  • Work as a liaison with other departments to achieve duties.
  • Actively participate as part of the leadership team and perform other duties or responsibilities as directed by the Assistant Chiefs, Fire Chief and/or their designee.
  • Maintain and be the point of contact for all Fire Department systems used to operate efficiently, i.e., ESO, OPIQ, Responder 360, Track it, City Works etc.
  • Attend statewide and national data focused trainings to support future growth of the Fire Department and its members

Additional Duties:

  • Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited school or university is preferred but not required.
  • Requires three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in a business discipline such as accounting, technical analysis, finance, or the like.
  • Experience with Municipal government is a plus.

Special Certifications and Licenses:

  • Valid Texas "Class C" Driver's License
