Data Analyst, Career Services

Job Description:

Cincinnati State Technical & Community College specializes in training and educating individuals for the region's workforce needs. The College Career Services Center, along with its Welcome Center and Transfer Center provide a continuum of services to prospective and current students from career exploration to experiential learning to job placement. The Career Services Data Analyst will primarily focus efforts on developing systems that support data collection, and provide analysis of data and outcomes related to student success, completion and career placement. The Data Analyst will be proficient and cross trained in numerous database systems software applications, and have the ability to navigate through these systems.

Overview:

  • Responsible for data collection for the Career Services, Welcome Center/Admissions and Transfer Center from several college systems in order to track key outcomes, trends, and performance measures.

  • Develop and manage a data tracking system consistent with College Institutional Research protocols.

  • Track regional and national workforce trends, make full use of existing community resources and research related to workforce and career development, and present this information in a concise manner as relevant to the College's career services and transfer activities.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, faculty, administrators, and students to ensure appropriate and confidential data collection, recording, storage, and reporting.

  • Maintain data integrity and compliance with institutional, federal, and state requirements.

  • Prepare data for institutional and program reviews of key outcomes as related to the College's Student Success & Completion Plan.

  • Extract data from multiple databases to meet internal and external needs, including grant proposal development, data mining to facilitate integration of employer relationships throughout the college, and institutional planning.

  • Design, implement, analyze queries from multiple sources to meet reporting requirements.

  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social science, technology, business, or other area involving research and analytical skills and/or 3 -5 years' experience in institutional research.

  • Statistical analysis proficiency.

  • Experience and using spreadsheets, query language(s), database systems, statistical software, and word processing.

  • Demonstrated mastery with multiple software programs and databases (Access, Excel, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution.

  • Experience in higher education and/or institutional research.

  • Experience with Ellucian Colleague, and/or Tableau

  • Experience with career development resources such as Career Coach, National Career Readiness Credential (NCRC), WorkKeys/KeyTrain, CareerLink

Desired competencies:

  • Previous experience in higher education, educational and/or market research is desirable.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and customer service skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to various diverse groups and stakeholders.

  • Strong organizational skills and an exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to manage own time and proactively identify and prioritize tasks for multiple concurrent projects.

Reports To: Director, Institutional Research & Effectiveness with dotted line relationship with Analysts of Career, Welcome and Transfer Centers

Compensation: $55,000

A redesigned campus includes a new Welcome Center, a new Career Services Center, and business offices all housed in one location. Knowing where to begin can be daunting, but the new Welcome Center will be the first stop for student success. Admissions personnel and Student Services Specialists assist and guide prospective students and visitors upon entering the "front door" of the Welcome Center located on the Clifton campus. Student Services Specialists (SSS) provide concierge customer service to all visitors at the Welcome Center. The SSS is knowledgeable of all aspects of Cincinnati State, can easily discern the customer service needs of each visitor, and ensure a "warm" referral to the appropriate office and/or college personnel. This position requires an individual that is professional, detail-oriented, methodical, and dependable with excellent customer service skills. The SSS will support an array of pre-enrollment services and information related to career exploration, admissions applications, financial aid, registration, and student services. Essential Duties: * Effectively greet visitors to the Welcome Center, assist prospective students and/or parents with questions, problems, related to their campus visit experience and ensure a positive experience for all those who come to Admissions/Welcome Center. * Assists new and continuing students with all student services processes, providing referrals to advising, career exploration, transfer degree pathways, and registration. * Meets and corresponds with prospective and current students to facilitate the full-cycle student services processes. * Assists the Office of Admissions to ensure a smooth transition from applicant to student. * Assist with key on-campus recruitment events with the Office of Admissions. * Provides resolutions to an assortment of academic and administrative problems of moderately complex scope and provides analytical reports to faculty and administrators. * Communicate Workforce Development Center program options and general details to prospective and active students, relying on personal knowledge and extensive communication with the respective Workforce Development Courses, Business Manager/Program Manager. * Contribute to the development and ongoing updates of the Welcome Center knowledge bank. * Contribute to ongoing process improvement and refinement to ensure the optimal customer/student experience. * Support and contribute to meeting Department and institutional student success goals and key performance indicators. * Assist with directing and utilizing student employee/Ambassadors. * Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: * Associate degree from an accredited college in a relevant discipline. * At least 3 years of relevant experience in higher education student services that demonstrate skills in student support services, student relations/customer relations. * Experience and strong competencies in Microsoft Office suite of business software, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel * Ability to work assigned schedule which may include schedule variations during peak enrollment periods. Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in communication, psychology, counseling, education, social work, or a related area. * Professional experience working within a community and technical college environment. * Experience with enrollment management software such as Ellucian Datatel/Colleague.
