We are seeking a high-energy, insightful and innovative data analyst to help us make better sales and marketing decisions. You will be responsible for gathering, manipulating and reporting sales statistics, as well as other data which will help further develop our sales strategies. You will be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of data gathering processes using disparate sources, analysis, trend identification and report development. You will have the opportunity to work with our databases, data collection systems, and reporting tools, as you help the sales team better understand both our existing merchant base and potential users

Requirements

What the Data Analyst role looks like:

  • Extract and transform raw data from various databases into meaningful and useful information to enable more effective strategic, tactical, and operational insights
  • Collect, analyze, evaluate and report data to assist in increasing overall sales productivity and efficiency
  • Run, interpret, and share sales performance results with the sales team; this may include reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis from a variety of inputs using multiple output methods (Excel, Tableau, Power BI)
  • Create both standardized and custom reports utilizing internal sales reports and external market data
  • Ensure rigorous quality control over data, analyses and metrics through processes and procedures
  • Responsible for reporting accuracy and timeliness, adherence to deadlines, identifying flaws and errors in the data and any upstream data issues.
  • Troubleshoot problems with daily data-feeds within programs and reports
  • Create accurate reports/queries by established deadlines

Most importantly, who you are:

  • Bachelors' degree required, preferably in Business, Information Technology, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or Computer Science
  • 2+ years of experience in data analytics required
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, formulas, macros, ect)
  • Strong SQL experience with the ability to write complex queries and edit and modify SQL scripts
  • Python & R skills preferable
  • Experience using data visualization tools (Power BI and Tableau preferred)
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Youre a self-starter, Were a start-up. Innovation is a requirement and ideas are expected
  • Adaptability - you embrace new challenges and arent afraid of difficult tasks
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, collaborate and manage time effectively

VIEW JOBS 10/18/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-16T00:00 Summary AUSL Description The Data Analytics + Strategy department supports the main work streams in AUSL (School Management, the Chicago Teacher Residency, and Advisory Services), and other departments in the organization with data analysis and reporting. We work closely with school and network stakeholders to develop their data capacity and strategic data usage to establish and sustain excellent schools and teacher training academies to prepare students for success in college, career, and life. Build and maintain tools and lead data analysis related to AUSL Elementary Schools and the Chicago Teacher Residency program, and provide data training and support to stakeholders to support a data-driven culture Network-wide. Essential Job Functions * Track, analyze, and report on student-level, school, and network-level data, primarily for elementary schools * Using mixed methods to conduct additional data analysis and evaluation reporting for other AUSL departments * Analyze data related to Chicago Teacher Residency (CTR), including demographic and retention metrics, residence performance throughout the program, and CTR-graduate effectiveness after residency year * Develop and assess tools for all coaching related activities across different coaching teams such as CTR, school-based coaches and coaching and development team * Develop and support the sharing of knowledge and deliverables with school and network stakeholders, including professional development presentations * Provide additional data support for the Director of Data Analytics and Strategy as needed * Create regular communications and deliverables to explain existing or new data analytic processes, tools, and common data metrics to different teams in the network * Support and present existing or new data metrics or tools for various (primarily) non-technical different Qualifications Qualifications include: * Commitment to eliminating systemic inequities in education * Familiarity with literature on K-12 student attainment, educational inequality, and education policy * Demonstrated proficiency in programming languages – Python - highly preferred; Stata, SQL, or R - preferred * Demonstrated attention to detail * Experience creating data visualizations – strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is required; experience with additional data visualization tools is a plus * Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) and/or working with CPS data is a plus * Superior organizational/project management skills, the ability to manage multiple projects/deliverables at the same time, and attention to detail * High acumen for anticipating work and proactive problem-solving balanced with humility, growth-mindedness, and a "Can Do, Will Do" approach * Ability to communicate and build trusting relationships with a broad cross-section of non-technical stakeholders * Project management experience preferred * At least two years of experience working with applied data experience preferred (including coursework) * Travel to AUSL schools and various meetings throughout the city (up to 50%) - Access to a car is useful but not required Application Materials * Resume * Brief statement (1 page or less) summarizing fit for the qualifications and job functions of this role * Sample of your work with a 1 paragraph description of the content, intended audience, and level of collaboration with other individuals to create the product (i.e., if submitting a memo or report - no more than 5 pages; if submitting a PowerPoint, not more than 10 slides) * A skills assessment may be requested as part of the interview process Work Environment All work takes place within school buildings in an open office environment; temperatures and noise levels may vary.
