Job Description: BAE Systems is looking for an on-site Data Analyst with excellent hands on experience to work at the Washington Navy Yard. Responsibilities include being part of the team supporting the customer's initiative to improve the quality and delivery of its enterprise information. Candidate will work with customers at all levels to identify and model data, identify data sources, develop data governance policies, analyze the data quality, and work with IT team members to provide quality data across its IT systems.

  • Support the breakdown of the project goals into achievable objectives

  • Collect, document, and model customer business entities, relationships, and requirements

  • Support the selection of content types based on strategic value and customer requirements

  • Support the definition of content types and data domains

  • Determine governance policy for data and metadata

  • Establish Business Taxonomies (Organization, Roles, Position, Document types, etc.)

  • Lead the discovery of data repositories that contain selected content types

  • Define the best way of accessing, integrating and delivering quality data

  • Establish data quality rules and guidelines

  • Analyze the quality of data in selected repositories

  • Find critical source data and metadata relevant to customer needs

  • Interface with business data stewards

  • Support the creation of data monitoring guidance and metrics

  • Review and monitor data

  • Work with data stewards to resolve data issues

  • Evaluate data quality and establish data quality rules

  • Interface with senior leadership to develop business requirements and work with IT team members to flow the requirements down

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience

  • Active Secret DoD Clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret DoD Clearance

  • Experience modeling data and relationships

  • Experience with UML, SysML, or comparable modelling language

  • Experience establishing data governance

  • Experience analyzing data and establishing data quality rules

  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work with teams and independently

  • Solid analytical, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with partners and government officials

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Common Access Card (CAC) along with badge access to the customer's facility

VIEW JOBS 1/13/2021 12:00:00 AM 2021-04-13T00:00 DATA ANALYST (NHTSA-20-0038-F): Bowhead is seeking a Data Analyst to join our team in Washington DC to provide technical support to the National Center for Statistics and Analysis for issues related to motor vehicle crashes. Our contract supports the Department of Transportation (DoT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Data Analyst will analyze motor vehicle crash data and reporting retrieved from computerized databases, data analysis and technical documentation. Essential functions will include: * Providing data visualization support in analyzing motor vehicle traffic crash data and reporting trends, in response to a large volume of data requests from within and outside of NHTSA. * Properly applying various database management methods within Tableau. * Developing new and improved techniques for data query and data mining. * Web delivery of analysis and reporting. * Developing Visual Analytics and Business Intelligence Dashboards. * May be called upon to complete statistical data processing as needed. About this Contract providing Engineering, Statistical, and Technical Support Services (ESTS): This work provides support to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Bowhead delivers to DOT NHTSA critical safety data and analysis for distribution to the public. Other areas of support include: Vehicle Crash Evaluation and Engineering Research Support, Web Page Design and Development, and Database Analytics and Database Research Support. Requirements • Master's degree in Data Analysis or related technical field is preferred however a Bachelor's degree in the related field and at least six (6) semester hours of SAS coursework is required at a minimum * Must have a minimum of one year experience working with complex projects involving large databases * Must have at least two to five (2 - 5) years of experience with SAS * Must have demonstrable past experience with data analysis and business intelligence. Experience with Tableau is preferred. * Qualified candidates must have excellent technical writing and communication skills; will be required to create and present data both orally and in writing * Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office software suite, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint * Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts * Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Public Trust level. A minimum of three (3) years US residency, or US Citizenship, is required for a Public Trust clearance at this location.
