TITLE: Data Analyst
DURATION: 12+ Months

OVERVIEW:
Our client provides products and services to high net worth clients, and is developing a data mart to facilitate client-centric analysis, measurement, and predictive modeling in support of the group*s key strategic objectives. The vision of this project is that it will contain comprehensive information about the clients, including the products each client holds, and such metrics as client balances, client revenues, client behavior (e.g. channels used, transaction activities)
This team manages various analyses and reporting processes and projects in support of business partners throughout the relevant group, including Strategy, Product Management, Marketing, Finance, and Regional Sales Management.
You will be part of a great team developing an enterprise client-centric data warehouse that supports business partners throughout the organization. .
DELIVERABLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Run programs that extract data
  • Define and document business and functional requirements
  • Troubleshoot reporting and data anomolies
  • Engage and direct business partners and subject matter experts to identify priorities, scope, and requirements for complex business problems
  • Manage and perform complex business and systems analysis
  • Engage technical development team members to transition requirements to design, and to determine appropriate design approach
  • Coordinate with project managers on deliverables, risks, and issues
  • Plan and execute system testing and user acceptance testing
  • Create end user documentation, train end users, and assess end user needs
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and visionary for the business community and technical teams
  • Project planning and management of business team deliverables
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • BA BS degree
  • 3-4 years of experience as a Business Analyst (looking for hands-on players)
  • Very strong analytic and creative problem solving skills
  • Proven experience with banking data and finance concepts
  • Strong critical analytic and critical thinking skills (required)
  • Very strong communication and team skills - will be interacting with and leading a variety of business partners and cross-functional team members, and must be able to effectively communicate and discuss business and technical concepts and issues (critical)
  • Detailed and technically oriented, but possess the ability to consider strategic initiatives and drivers (basic)
  • Proficient SQL skills and database knowledge in order to analyze data sources (critical)
  • Proven experience developing business and functional requirements for an enterprise data warehousing project in the financial services industry (nice to have)
  • Proven experience with business process modeling and systems analysis
  • Proven understanding of the full software development lifecycle
  • Proven experience within the financial services industry, including an understanding of financial products, concepts, data, and systems (particularly interested in brokerage products, systems, and data)
PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Proven experience developing business and functional requirements for complex enterprise data warehousing projects (particularly interested in client-centric projects)
  • Previous experience with data modeling and system design
  • Knowledge of business intelligence

Our team is working to ensure that our analytics and reporting can support this growth. This role will help maintain data integrity and enable accurate, timely, and complete financial reporting. THE TEAM The Database Engineering Team works on the pipes that connect the various services and data stores that make up the Eventbrite websites and mobile applications. In addition, the team is responsible for Eventbrite's infrastructure, including ETL, the enterprise data warehouse, and reporting tools. Learn more about the team from some of our engineers. THE ROLE As a Data Analyst, you'll be a key member of a small engineering team working on Eventbrite's data-related problems. You'll work with business users to ensure that they have accurate, reliable reporting and be instrumental in helping the business make data-driven decisions. You'll work on exciting projects that touch all parts of our data ecosystem. You'll work with business teams to define, scope, design, and develop reports and self-service tools. Current (but evolving) technologies include Spark, Presto, Hive, Luigi, MySQL, Redis, Impala, Superset, and Tableau. THE SKILL SET * 2+ years of experience using data analysis to drive business decisions * Intermediate to advanced SQL experience writing complex queries, user-defined functions, and stored procedures, and tuning query performance * Skilled in data visualization tools such as Tableau * Bachelor's degree with strong academic performance in a quantitative field; or strong equivalent experience * Professional work experience in a technology, start-up, data warehousing, or other analytical role * Experience working with business partners to understand business problems and help to devise scalable solutions to meet their needs * Attentive to detail with strong quality control, especially in regard to large-scale data changes * Ability to identify and succinctly summarize roadblocks, constraints, and trade-offs, propose potential solutions, and drive toward resolution * Intellectually curious, high energy and possess a strong work ethic * Strong grasp of data warehouse concepts and data models * Exceptional oral and written communication skills * Solid problem solving and analytical skills; able to quickly digest any issue/problem encountered and recommend appropriate solution options * Analyze business requirements in various business functional areas and translate them into conceptual, logical and physical data models * Design data marts using knowledge of data warehouse principles, architectures and technologies * Collaborate with your peers for finding solutions to complex problems * Share knowledge with your peers and also learn from them as required BONUS POINTS * Familiar with using Spark and Presto to access an S3 data warehouse * Familiarity with data processing using common libraries in the Python data science stack, especially pandas and NumPy (or similar experience using R with an interest in learning to use the Python stack) * Experience designing, reviewing, implementing and optimizing data transformation processes using Big Data tools like Spark, Presto, and Hive * Experience working with version control, peer code review, and agile sprint-based work streams ABOUT EVENTBRITE Eventbrite is the world's leading event technology platform, powering more than two million live experiences each year.
