Dairy Judging Coach

Function:

Responsible for all aspects of coordinating and coaching the Dairy Judging Team.

Organizational Relationship:

Dairy Judging Coach reports to the Dean of Career and Technical Education, who reports to the Provost/ Vice President of Instructional Services, who reports to the President.

Qualifications for the Position

Required:

• Associate degree in Animal Science or closely related Agricultural field and three (3) years or more of non-teaching relevant work experience, or; certificate, apprenticeship, national or state-issued license, or an industry recognized credential in the field, and five (5) years or more of non-teaching relevant work experience, or; no degree/certificate and ten (10) years or more of non-teaching relevant work experience

• Strong public relations and communication skills (verbal & written)

• Proficiency in organizing and planning

• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to teamwork, leadership, and consensus decision making

• Commitment to the community college mission and philosophy

• Valid Drivers License

Preferred:

• Bachelors Degree Animal Science or related Agriculture degree

• Dairy or livestock coaching experience

• Fundraising experience

Essential Functions:

• Oversees the Dairy Judging Team to include recruiting, team practices, travel arrangements, and competitions.

• Responsible for teaching introductory and advanced dairy evaluation and judging.

• Develop budget in support of team practice, team travel, and team competitions.

• Develops funding opportunities through community, industry, and donor relations.

• Works closely with academic faculty ensuring all students participating on the Dairy Judging team are in good academic standing at all times while engaged with the team.

• Understand and abide by competition and conference rules and regulations

• Uphold the positive image of Kaskaskia College by exhibiting professional conduct at all times

• Ensure team members adhere to student code of conduct.

Other Functions:

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Supervisory Controls:

Dairy Judging Coach is expected to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision. Consultation as necessary is available with the Dean of Career and Technical Education.

Guidelines:

Individual is expected to follow all college policies and procedures as well as all local, state, and federal laws. Individual is expected to adhere to and foster development of Kaskaskia College core values of learning, respect, excellence, access, diversity, integrity, and community.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Travel required. Flexible work schedule, including some overnight travel and weekends required.
