The DAH Program Coordinator (CLG Coordinator) is responsible for Administering federal CLG pass-through grant program. Position provides technical advice to communities of local historic districts.

Advises community organizations and leaders on the advantages of historic preservation and local historic districts. Research best practices statewide and nationally on the administration of local historic districts. Coordinate and conduct regular training opportunities for historic commissioners and staff.

Review and evaluate operation capacity of local preservation programs. Serve as agency representative on Capital Zoning District Commission's Design Review Committee.

Applicants must meet or exceed these qualifications: Formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in historic preservation, history, English, education, general business, public administration or related field; plus two years of experience in a specific program related area.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with grant programs; graduate study in one or more of the fields listed above. The ability to understand complex federal grant from the National Park Service in terms of application and reporting and the ability to understand AASIS, the state's management information system is required.

The Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism has three major divisions: Arkansas State Parks, Arkansas Heritage and Arkansas Tourism.

Arkansas State Parks manages 52 state parks and promotes Arkansas as a tourist destination for people around the country. Arkansas Heritage preserves and promotes Arkansas's natural and cultural history and heritage through four historic museums and four cultural preservation agencies. Arkansas Tourism improves the state's economy by generating travel and enhancing the image of the state.

Summary

The Department of Arkansas Heritage (DAH) Program Coordinator is responsible for adherence to division/department program policies and procedures, service delivery of statewide or department wide programs, and participating in the strategic planning process. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Functions

Applies goals and objectives of programs according to established state laws and agency policy/regulations. Performs cost analyses for grants and forecasts service needs.

Provides technical support to various departmental agencies, including preparing, reviewing, and recommending related educational and resource materials. Monitors and evaluates program effectiveness and recommends methods of program improvements. Writes program publications and develops and conducts public presentations on program areas.

Maintains appropriate contact with federal, state, and local officials and other members of the community. Represents the agency in meetings, conferences, and workgroups. Performs other duties as assigned.
