Praxair Distribution, Inc. is seeking a Cylinder Loader

  • Warehouse Associate to join our team located in Fairless Hills, PA.

The Cylinder Loader

  • Warehouse Associate will be responsible for handling cylinders within the facility and/or preparing for shipment both high and low pressure, specialty gas cylinders and equipment.

Cylinder Loader

  • Warehouse Associate

  • 1st Shift

  • Loads and unloads gas cylinders and/or other products onto and off of route trucks and trailers

  • Rolls cylinders and operates a forklift truck for the movement of cylinders

  • Sorts empty cylinders by type

  • Checks for cylinder quantities, styles and product, and/or assist with inventory

  • Reviews customer orders, pulls items from full inventory and loads items onto trucks for delivery

  • Performs basic cylinder maintenance such as painting cylinders, labeling cylinders, and cleaning of work area

  • Assists with accompanying paperwork for shipments

  • Completes both routine and non-routine daily and weekly assignments

Other duties as assigned

  • High School Degree/GED required

  • 1 years manufacturing or plant experience preferred

  • Experience operating a fork lift preferred

  • Qualified candidate must possess good leadership, problem solving, communication, and organizational skills

  • Must be able/willing to work 1st Shift

Job Responsibilities * Understand and comply with all DOT and CGA regulations, laws and guidelines with regards to cylinder preparation, handling, transportation and disposal. * Understand and comply with established environmental, health, safety and quality systems, report any discrepancies and stop any operation if it is compromising the safety/quality process. * Provide information for and initiate proper reporting procedures for all safety and quality issues per on-site policies. * Perform daily inspection and operation of a forklift, pallet jack truck and other cylinder handling equipment. * Inspect any cylinder reported having an issue and recommend disposition. If repair is an option, develop the plan, complete the repair and perform testing to verify it is safe and of sufficient quality to return to service. * Understand and perform preparation and/or repair on non-routine packaging such as 450V, ton cylinders and tube trailers. * Perform research and prepare requisitions for appropriate equipment, tools, parts, materials, containers, components, etc. required for cylinder preparation activities. Maintain necessary levels of inventory. * Maintain and troubleshoot the cylinder preparation and cleanroom equipment and tools in coordination with the maintenance department. This includes all equipment/components requiring calibration as well as the custom internal cylinder inspection system. * Maintain the hard copy and/or electronic cylinder manufacturing and retest reports. Provide copies for customer work orders as required. * Ability to wear a respirator and maintain annual certification. * Maintain general work area as per 5S methodology and set example. * Follow proper protocols/procedures to select the proper packaging for a given product as well as determine the proper preparation procedures for a given product grade and service. Perform these tasks with minimal or no supervision. This includes, but is not limited to: * Cylinder type selection - new or used, materials of construction, previous service, fleet size, compatibility, etc. * Cylinder preparation - shot blast, acid & water wash, repainting, stamping, dress cylinder outlet threads, re-valving, pressure test, vacuum bake, leak check. * Support the plant management in leading and/or supervising the cylinder preparation team. Support includes, but is not limited to: * Provide guidance, leadership and training to the Cylinder Preparation Technicians. * Scheduling and filling cylinder preparation work orders and provide regular feedback. * Plan, prioritize and assign daily work assignments to cylinder preparation personnel, including cleanroom operations. * Discuss and/or address equipment or work planning issues within the cylinder preparation team. * Maintain and track valve and cylinder inventories, including the cylinder fleet stored at the Worcester, MA, depot. * As needed, oversee the periodic in-house cylinder retest process as well as coordinating shipments of cylinders to be sent for retest at the vendor's location. * Maintain the cylinder inventory in the cylinder processing shed. This includes maintaining an accurate inventory count, ensuring retest as needed, coordinating return to service, deciding on disposition, etc. * Manage the Rotarex valve refurbishment program. This includes maintaining proficiency of the certified Rotarex valve refurbishment technicians. * Manage the refurbishment program for UHIS cylinder caps, dust caps and collar adapters. Required Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent. * Ability to understand, abide by and enforce stringent safety rules. * 7+ years of experience in the specialty gas, industrial gas, military technical/mechanical rating or nuclear field, or equivalent industry. * Evidence of previous work in a successful team environment as a team member or team lead. * Strong mechanical skills and aptitude. * Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to give instructions clearly. * Ability to accurately perform basic arithmetic calculations. * Full range of motion and ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. * Self motivated to learn. * Specific cylinder preparation experience as a team lead is preferred.
