We are looking for a Senior System Engineer with the depth of experience to work with DoD leadership and military users across USCYBERCOM and the Joint Cyber Warfighting Architecture Program Management Offices to identify, architect, and plan world class cyber capabilities for the warfighter. The ideal candidate has significant experience defining Enterprise Architectures and Cyber Security Operations. The Systems Engineer will work with USCYBERCOMMAND and various directorates within the Command to capture Operational Threads for how current and future Cyber Operations will be implemented. The Systems Engineer should have experience with system-of-systems architecture concepts and understand interfaces, data standards, and interoperability. In this role, you should be an excellent oral and written communicator who is able to translate complex requirements into functional architecture. You will be expected to capture mission threads and should have experience writing Concept of Operations and developing architectural artifacts. You will develop roadmaps that integrate increasing levels of new cyber capabilities while sunsetting existing capabilities. As a senior system engineer, you will work closely with USCYBERCOM Mission Teams, DoD Program Managers, Acquisitions Experts, System Engineers, and other members of USCYBERCOMMAND to create and implement the Joint Cyber Warfighting Architecture.


  • Work closely with military users for Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO), Offensive Cyber Operations (OCO), and DoDIN Operations to understand operational needs and specify architectural solutions that meet evolving mission requirements
  • Apply emerging IT and cybersecurity technologies to solve world class problems for USCYBERCOM
  • Develop cybersecurity use cases by analyze existing and planned DoD cybersecurity capabilities to determine how each system integrates to work as a cohesive system-of-systems
  • Develop functional and interface requirements specifications for new USCYBERCOM capabilities
  • Develop Capability Roadmaps that specify how and when new cybersecurity capabilities will be injected into existing programs to deliver capability drops for the warfighter
  • Develop the full range of architectural artifacts from Concepts of Operations through DoDAF views
  • Work jointly with Program Managers and Project Teams to provide system engineering expertise including monitoring the implementation of approved architectures
  • Work with USCYBERCOM leadership to assist with the development of white papers and funding requests that provide technical explanations of critical USCYBERCOM capability needs
  • Participate in Program Reviews and Budget Decision meetings to represent key technical needs


  • Ability to provide verbal and written communication with senior level leadership across the USCYBERCOM Directorates to explain cybersecurity capabilities
  • Understanding of overall concepts and capabilities of Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO), Offensive Cyber Operations (OCO), and DoDIN Operations; Candidates do not require expertise in all three areas; however, an in-depth knowledge of cybersecurity in one or more areas will enable the candidate to quickly get up-to-speed to support use case development that applies across all of the operational areas
  • Subject Matter Expertise in one or more of the following areas: big data management, command and control, sensors, virtual technologies, hunting, or offensive tool development
  • Experience in Mission Engineering and capturing Operational Threads
  • Experience with development of architectural artifacts and sufficient knowledge of DoDAF to support communication with USCYBERCOM architects
  • Experience with development of functional specifications
  • Ability to communicate system requirements to software development teams
  • Strong writing and organizational skills to prepare a variety of technical papers
  • Minimum of 15 years system engineering experience
  • Minimum of 10 years cybersecurity experience
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance
  • Minimum of Bachelor of Science Degree in a Technical Field
