As a member of Sentek's Cybersecurity-as-a-Service (CSaaS) team, you'll provide support for Fleet Cyber Command's Office of Compliance and Assessment (FCC OCA) in support of all OCA inspections during all inspection phases including but not limited to the pre-inspection phase, inspection phase, and post-inspection phase.

Cybersecurity inspections will be conducted on unclassified and classified DoD/DON networks and enterprises, and may include coordination and collaboration with multiple DoD organizations in support of joint and other service / agency requirements to determine operational risk to the Navy and the Department of Defense Information Network (DoDIN). Cybersecurity inspection methodologies will evolve as additional guidance is promulgated through DoD/DON guidance, requiring contractor support to be modified to meet new technology and analysis requirements and provide surge support to meet operational requirements as defined by the client.

The Role:

Reporting to the CSaaS Program Manager, the Cybersecurity Data Analyst will work alongside a team of Cybersecurity Data Analysts and the Cybersecurity Data Scientist to analyze and compile cybersecurity inspection data using various databases and ingestion tools. This position is located in Hampton Roads, VA.

What You'll Do:

  • Support Fleet Cyber Command's Office of Compliance and Assessment's (FCC OCA) Analysis and Assessment (A&A) Division by analyzing and assessing internal OCA processes, examining and enhancing integration between OCA, Navy Authorizing Official (NAO) and external stakeholders, completing cyber inspection analysis and developing use of a centralized database to maintain post-inspection data.

  • Extract data from each inspection phase through various automated or manual tools that will collect, clean, normalize, manage, and interpret gathered data to provide a process for understanding the data.

  • Perform data cleaning and statistical analysis using available programming languages.

  • Analyze and clean large datasets using Microsoft Excel and Access or equivalent authorized software tools.

  • Analyze, interpret, interrelate, and evaluate data sets from disparate sources and formats including, but not limited to: MS Excel, MS Access, relational database structures (SQL), and unstructured databases.

  • Provide analysis on cybersecurity inspection processes and their associated resulting trends.

  • Provide recommendations for improvements to inspection processes or procedures to strengthen inspection results utilizing various programming languages and applications in both structured and unstructured databases and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R, MarkLogic, Tableau, Splunk, HADDOOP, etc).

  • Bid and Proposal support if requested.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For:

Required Qualifications:

  • An active TS/SCI (e) clearance is required to be considered for this position.

  • Possess a bachelor's degree or higher from and accredited university in automated data management.

  • Five (5) years of experience in data management, analytics using technologies such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI and the like, SQL and query Syntax.

  • Three (3) years of experience working in dynamic cross-competency teams.

  • Two (2) or more years of work experience involving quantitative data analysis to solve problems.

  • Experience remediating data issues, documenting Source to Target Mapping of Data Sources.

  • Experience with conceptual Data modes Creation and Input.

  • Ability to analyze, summarize and characterize large or small data sets with varying degrees of fidelity or quality and ability to identify and explain any insights or patterns within them.

  • Strong expertise in designing, developing, and implementing reports, visualizations and dashboards.

  • Familiarity with Command Cyber Operational Readiness Inspections (CCORI), Command Cyber Readiness Inspection (CCRI), and/or Cyber Security Inspections (CSI).

  • Experience with statistical programming languages.

  • Experience with Tableau.

  • Per our contractual agreement with the U.S. Government, a full-time employee "FTE" is required to work 1920 hours in the calendar year.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Applied Math, Statistics, Computer Science or another quantified field.

  • Current DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II Certification:

  • CompTIA CySA+.

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Security.

  • Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP)

  • GIAC Security Essentials certification (GSEC)

  • CompTIA Security + CE

  • (ISC)2 Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)

  • Possess CompTIA CySA+, Tableau, or SQL equivalent certification.

Outstanding candidates in other areas of Computer Science will also be considered. The appointment is expected to be made at the Assistant Professor rank with an anticipated start date of July 2021. Requirements are the potential for success in teaching, research, and obtaining external research grants. Consideration will also be given to candidates demonstrating a potential for collaboration with the current Computer Science faculty or for inter-disciplinary collaboration with other researchers at ODU. The Department of Computer Science currently has 19 tenured and tenure-track faculty, 9 teaching faculty, and several adjunct faculty. The faculty has research grant support from agencies such as NSF, NIH, NASA, NEH, the Mellon Foundation, DoD, and DoE. ODUComputer Science ranks in the top 25% in terms of R&D expenditures among Computer Science departments.
