We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cybersecurity Advisor (Security Control
Assessor) to join our team at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington DC, in support of
USAID. The primary responsibility of this role is to conduct comprehensive assessments of
cybersecurity practices and strategies, ensuring the security and protection of critical
information systems and data. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in identifying
vulnerabilities, recommending improvements, and translating technical findings into clear and
actionable insights for the government.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Comprehensive Assessment Review:
Conduct in-depth reviews of cybersecurity assessments conducted by other government
contractors.
Critically evaluate assessment reports to identify areas of strength and potential
vulnerabilities or gaps.
Provide expert analysis of cybersecurity controls and their effectiveness.
2.Strategic Advisory on Asset Deployment:
Based on assessment reviews, advise on the strategic deployment and utilization of
cybersecurity assets.
Make informed recommendations on how to best protect information systems and
data.
Collaborate with project teams to ensure cybersecurity measures align with
organizational goals.
3.Identification of Improvement Areas:
Identify potential flaws or areas for improvement in cybersecurity strategies and
recommendations.
Suggest enhancements to ensure robust and effective security measures.
Work closely with project teams to implement recommended improvements.
4.Translation and Communication of Cybersecurity Reports:
Interpret complex cybersecurity reports and translate technical jargon into clear,
layman's terms.
Create concise, understandable written assessments for government stakeholders.
Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations
effectively.
5.Expertise in Cybersecurity and Analytical Skills:
Possess a high level of expertise in cybersecurity practices, controls, and regulations.
Demonstrate strong analytical skills to assess intricate security details and articulate their
implications.
Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and best practices.
6.Collaboration and Reporting:
Collaborate with the government Project Manager and other stakeholders to align
cybersecurity efforts with project objectives.
Provide regular updates and reports on assessment findings, improvements, and
recommendations.
Ensure timely communication of critical cybersecurity information.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (Master's
degree preferred) with 5 or years of experience.
Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA highly desirable.
Proven experience in conducting security control assessments and vulnerability
assessments.
Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and regulations (NIST, ISO,
etc.).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
