The Work

As a Cyber Security Systems Engineer supporting the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) program, you will apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, validate, and verify Cyber solutions across the lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include:

Conducting cyber risk assessment activities, including threat modeling, vulnerability analysis, and analysis of mitigation solutions.

Coordinating and addressing Supply Chain risk management concerns.

Developing, evaluating, and analyzing design constraints, trade-offs, and detailed system and security designs in the Cyber domain.

Conducting cybersecurity test and evaluation of hardware and/or software designs to verify and validate compliance with defined specifications and requirements.

Implementing appropriate Assessment and Authorization activities as required by customers.

Specific technical responsibilities include:

Evaluating Linux and Windows computing platform devices, network designs, and devices for cyber security vulnerabilities.

Assessing and driving mitigation efforts of system security threats/risks throughout the program lifecycle.

Validating system security requirements definition and supporting secure systems operations and maintenance.

Implementation of security policies to meet Risk Management Framework (RMF) objectives including monthly operating system (OS) and software patches and quarterly reviews of Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG).

Interacting significantly with other technicians, analysts, and engineers to implement security designs, resolve vulnerabilities, modify system or software components security settings, and mitigate risk.

Who You Are

Strong technical expertise in cybersecurity and system engineering.

Experience in conducting cyber risk assessments and implementing security policies.

Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and related cybersecurity processes.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

The ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

A level 3 employee is typically mid-career and has 3 to 5+ years of professional experience.

Additional Requirements:

Security + or equivalent certification required

This position is located at either Hurlburt Field in Okaloosa County, Florida, or Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Candidate must be willing to obtain and maintain a Secret level government security clearance; you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience required with a related Masters degree.

  • Expertise in securing at least one of the following: Linux, Windows, or Cisco.

  • Security + or equivalent certification required.

  • Expertise in Windows environment and Unix/Linux file system & command line.

  • Ability to analyze security reports and develop/implement a plan to mitigate security vulnerabilities.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance.

  • Must be willing to travel up to 25%.

Desired Skills:

Desired skills :

  • Experience with vulnerability analysis using cyber security tools (e.g., ACAS, Nessus, SCAP, SCC, STIG Viewer).

  • Scripting experience (e.g. Python, Bash, Perl, Powershell).

  • CISSP certified

  • Experience with Host Base Security System (HBSS) Deployment and management

  • Experience with Splunk, network security, and system security supporting event management tools, including SIEMs

  • Maintains Security relevant certifications such as: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Security Administrator (CISA)

  • Experience with Cyber Threat Analysis

  • Strongly written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with Model Based Engineering, Agile methodologies, Automation techniques, or DevSecOps concepts

  • Expertise in configuring and securing at least one of the following: Linux, Windows, or Cisco.

  • Experience and interest in supporting or leading development of technical proposals and cost estimates in an engineering domain.

  • Thorough understanding of Unix/Linux file system and command line.

  • Experience and interest in leading small teams and/or technical efforts in an engineering domain.

  • Experience and interest in preparing and delivering technical and project status presentations to internal and external customers.

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Clearance Level: Secret

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
