Position Summary:

The Cyber Security Intern Protects Cumberland Farms users, devices, networks, and data through a broad set of duties and responsibilities.

The Cyber Security Intern will provide analysis of Information Security Events received from Managed Security Service (MSS) Partners, Internal Tools, and Stakeholders; determine true or false positive; and escalate to Cyber Security Analysts.

The Cyber Security Intern will help execute Cyber Security Improvement projects and New Tool Rollouts in support of the strategy and roadmap set by leadership.

This position will develop reports and dashboards across Information Security Tools to track events and incidents.

Responsibilities:

Accurately perform and document periodic (daily/weekly/monthly) monitoring and correlation of security events from tools, MSS alerts, network devices, and end-point devices for malicious activity.

Under the direction of the Director of Information Security, Implement Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) tool and populate Controls, Testing Criteria, and Owners.

Remain informed on emerging Threats, technologies, and trends.

Working Relationships:

Work closely with Cyber Security Analysts and the Director of Information Security to review potential threats and report on data trends.

Requirements:

Minimum Education: Enrolled in a Degree Program in Information Security or related field (Information Systems, Computer Science, Network Security, Forensics).

Preferred Education: Enrolled in a Degree Program in Information Security or related field (Information Systems, Computer Science, Network Security, Forensics).

Minimum Experience: Basic IT Troubleshooting and System Administration experience.

Preferred Experience: Basic IT Troubleshooting and System Administration experience.

Licenses/Certifications: N/A

This position will execute Cyber Security Improvement projects and New Tool Rollouts in support of the strategy and roadmap set by leadership. This position will develop reports and dashboards across Information Security Tools to track events and incidents. This position will provide input into process and technology improvements. This position will contribute to annual audits and regulatory requirements. This position will assist in the administration of the IT Change Advisory Board (CAB). A broad competency of standard IT and Information Security tools and platforms is required. Responsibilities: Accurately perform and document periodic (daily/weekly/monthly/semi-annual/annual) monitoring and correlation of security events from tools, MSS alerts, network devices, and end-point devices for malicious activity. Proactively hunt for malicious activity. Execute Incident Response Procedures to ensure all incidents are contained, remediated, documented and procedures updated. Perform Security Awareness Program Tasks such as sending 'phishing emails' and developing Security Awareness collateral for end users. Proactively gather and maintain supporting evidence for Audits. Remain informed on emerging Threats, technologies, trends and practices; apply that intelligence to Information Security Operations. Daily activities from this role will inform KPIs for effectiveness of the Information Security Program. Act as a trusted advisor bringing Information Security Support to IT and Business Teams during daily operations, change management, and new project proposals and execution. Conduct vendor risk assessments before 3rd parties access Cumberland Farms networks and systems. Manage and Operate existing Security Technologies (e-mail filtering, application whitelisting, A/V, SIEM). Assist in implementation of new Security Technologies. Working Relationships: Work closely with the Director of Information Security to Operationalize the Information Security Strategy. Work closely with IT, Retail Automation, Application, and Infrastructure staff to ensure Security is implemented ground up with each project. Work closely with Business Unit Owners to 'get to yes,' enabling business tasks in the most secure way possible. Requirements: Minimum Education: Associate's Degree in Information Security or related field (Information Systems, Computer Science, Network Security, Forensics) or equivalent business experience required; and Entry-Level Information Security Certifications (Security+ or similar) Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Security or related field (Information Systems, Computer Science, Network Security, Forensics); and Mid-Level Information Security Certification (GCIA, GCWN, GCIX, Associate of ISC(2)) Minimum Experience: Minimum 1 year in a Security Operations Center (SOC) or Information Security Operations Team. Provided tier 1+ End User support in a help desk environment servicing Windows, Linux, and Mac. Conducted Basic Security Event Analysis and reported findings to Manager or Customer. Conduct basic threat analysis of emails, documents, and executables.
