Responsibilities

The Cyber Operations and Resilience Department (CORD) provides technical support in researching and engineering cyber solutions for Aerospace internal and external customers in all segments of national security space systems. Support is provided across multiple functional areas to include ground network and space-based systems for multiple mission partners to include Air Force Space Command, SMC Directorates, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, the nuclear enterprise, and Civil Agencies. A primary focus is to support the Space and Missile Center, Air Force Research Labs (AFRL), and Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center.

Key Functions

  • Support test, study and improve mission resiliency for Space Mission Systems from advanced cyber threats

  • Develop and test Defensive Cyber Operations tools and capabilities

  • Applies standard techniques and procedures to carry out a series of prescribed scientific and/or cyber security tasks

  • Participate in risk management activities to ensure cybersecurity risks are evaluated and mitigations applied in accordance with security directives

  • Prioritize work and meet deadlines

  • Proactively support program management of multiple projects and facilitate in-depth working groups to identify credible threats, relevant vulnerabilities, and assess operational impacts

  • Assist in development of mitigating courses of action and creation of comprehensive strategies to include system design modifications

  • Closely collaborate with Aerospace, Government, SETA and mission partner representatives

Qualifications

This position can be filled as a Cyber Security Engineer or Sr. Cyber Security Engineer

Required for Cyber Security Engineer

  • Bachelors of Science, technical or advanced degree from an accredited University

  • Five or more years of cyber security/cyber operations experience

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance which is issued by the US government. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills

  • Energetic and self-motivated

  • Must work well in a team environment

  • Strong organizational, time management and project management skills

  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to changing organizational need

Required for Sr. Cyber Security Engineer

  • Bachelors of Science, technical or advanced degree from an accredited University

  • Eight or more years of cyber security/cyber operations experience

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance which is issued by the US government. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Energetic and self-motivated

  • Work well in a team environment with ability to mentor junior team members

  • Strong organizational, time management and project management skills

  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing organizational need

Preferred

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance

  • Master of Science or technical degree from an accredited University

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Certification or equivalent cyber certification such as Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)

  • Demonstrated Cybersecurity/cyber operations experience as it relates to Space Mission Systems

  • Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) experience

  • Experience working with program office personnel on Air Force Space Command (AFSPC), Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) or Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center

  • Familiarity with cyberspace operations planning, war-gaming and experiments

  • Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies, including Risk Management Framework (RMF)

  • Experience managing and leading teams/projects, handling multiple tasks, and working closely with government customers, contractors, and other FFRDCs

The Cybersecurity Lead works across the EDIS program to integrate the Cybersecurity discipline into all aspects of the team, and operates in support of other leaders to develop consistent policies, plans, and procedures to conduct operations.
