General Summary

Under limited direction, assesses the security posture of operating systems, networks, and database products.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential functions)

  • Assesses the security posture of various IS systems using official guidance.

  • Manages customer relationship with system owners and support personnel.

  • Ability to create and submit proper deliverables within established guidelines.

  • Ability to read and understand complex network topology and system architecture.

  • Evaluates and makes recommendations designed to promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in the security program.

  • Performs policy review to ensure compliance of technical, managerial and policy requirements.

  • May assist in the assessment of cloud computing, mobile devices, and application security products.

Required Experience

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems

  • Minimum of 0-3 years work related experience.

  • Ability to clearly present and communicate technical approaches and findings.

  • Ability to travel 50% with or without reasonable accommodations

  • Must be able to obtain Security + CE certification and a Computing Environment (CE) certification within 6 months of hire.

  • US Citizenship Required; Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience using Docker, Kibana, and OWASP

  • Prior experience as a Cyber Security intern with COLSA Corporation

  • Experience creating vulnerability analysis methods

  • Experience creating dashboards to adequate

Assesses and mitigates system security threats/risks throughout the program life cycle; validates system security requirements definition and analysis; establishes system security designs; implements security designs in hardware, software, data, and procedures; verifies security requirements; performs system certification and accreditation planning and testing and liaison activities, and supports secure systems operations and maintenance. Basic Qualifications Proven ability to interpret security and information protection policies into executable requirements. Demonstrated experience in Information Assurance and security engineering principles involving application security, security testing, computer security and other areas of Information Assurance. Expert understanding of the Open Systems Interconnect 7 layers, forward and reverse web proxies, stateful firewalls and substantial knowledge of networking principles including routing protocols, layer 2 switching, and wireless networks. Familiarity with security controls utilized to protect data in the various states, including encryption for data at rest, in use and in transit. Experience analyzing the security posture of a system from hardware, networking, and software perspectives. Basic understanding of Identity and Access Management principles used for authentication including basics of public key cryptography and the use of PKI certificates for purposes of authenticating devices and users. Understanding of common enterprise services as it intersects with large scale corporate networks. Experience with cloud providers, especially Amazon Web Services and elastic computing principles domain. Experience with Threat Models such as STRIDE and threat modeling techniques. Proven experience interacting with internal customers and project co-workers as well as senior leadership, providing Security recommendations and influencing customers to adopt corporate standards.
