Job Description:

As a Cyber Security Engineer at Applied Digital, you will be a key hire to our security team, working directly with the VP of Security to build out compliant security practices and ensure the integrity of our systems, networks, and data. You will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing security solutions that protect against cyber threats and vulnerabilities. Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the VP of Security to design, implement, and manage security solutions that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

  • Monitor and analyze security events and alerts, investigating potential security incidents and responding promptly to mitigate risks.

  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities in systems and applications.

  • Develop and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

  • Configure and manage security tools and technologies, such as SIEM, DLP, and endpoint protection systems, to detect and prevent security breaches.

  • Integrate security controls into the development and deployment lifecycle, ensuring security by design principles.

  • Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques, and proactively recommend and implement security measures to mitigate risks.

  • Provide security awareness training and guidance to employees, promoting a culture of security awareness and compliance.

  • Participate in incident response activities, including investigation, analysis, and documentation of security incidents, and contribute to post-incident reviews and lessons learned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in information security, with a focus on security engineering and operations.

  • Strong understanding of security principles, technologies, and best practices, including network security, endpoint security, and identity and access management.

  • Experience with security tools and technologies, such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, DLP, and endpoint protection systems.

  • Knowledge of security frameworks and standards, such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls.

  • Hands-on experience with vulnerability assessment and penetration testing tools, such as Nessus, Metasploit, and Burp Suite.

  • Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or CompTIA Security+ are a plus.

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze complex security issues and implement effective solutions.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
