Demonstrated knowledge of security controls and understanding of industry best practices and frameworks. e.g. FIPS, NIST
Demonstrated knowledge in conducting risk assessments or audits
Working knowledge of security incident diagnosis, system vulnerabilities, penetration testing, security analysis tools, and system logging
Working knowledge of intrusion detection systems e.g. Zeek, FireEye, SecurityOnion
Working knowledge in computer and network security analysis and incident response

Ames National Laboratory is seeking candidates for a Cyber Security Analyst position within Information Technology. This position will assist in the development and maintenance of the Cyber Security Program Plan and supporting documents; perform analysis of cyber security vulnerabilities and threats, develop enhancements to monitoring and auditing processes, and respond to security incidents.
Responsibilities include conducting risk assessments (third-party cloud platforms and supply chain), conduct internal security audits of NIST 800-53 controls, and assist in external audits. All activities must comply with Department of Energy policies, procedures, and requirements in relation to cyber security.
The successful candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communications skills. The ability to work independently or as a member of a team on multiple, simultaneous projects is important to success in this position. The ability to interpret and apply complex technical documentation is required. A proactive approach, with the ability to analyze situations, and solve problems will be important to the success of this position.
