CWT Trainer

Under the overall direction of the Director, WESST, and the specific direction of the Lead Fire Brigade Instructor, this position is responsible for training delivery of Industrial Fire Brigade and other safety programs, coordination, planning, recordkeeping, and administration of customized curriculum for this department.

Key Measurable Expectations

The following are duties that are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required or assigned.

• Delivery of customized safety and industrial fire brigade training. (80% of time)
• At the request of the Lead Fire Brigade Instructor, may research and provide instructional input to include customization as required; examples: Rookie School, Rope Rescue, Corporate Apparatus, etc. (5% of time)
• Represent WESST and Lewis and Clark Community College on committees; participate in industry and community associations, various college planning, review and other internal or client meetings as required. (5% of time)
• Participate in pre-training preparations and post-course equipment cleaning, maintenance & storage, and other pre-technical assistance as necessary. (10% of time)

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

SKILLS REQUIRED

• Associate's degree in Fire Fighting is required.

• Three to five years of practical fire-fighting experience with a municipal Fire Department is a must.

• Two years or more as an educator within a fire department or other school or educational facility.

• Demonstrated public speaking/instructional delivery skills.

• Advanced certifications and training from Illinois State Fire Marshall's office or other accredited bodies a plus.

• CPR/First Aid Instructor preferred.

• Valid Illinois or other current state Motor Vehicle license required.
