Who We Are
Mission Technologies, as division of Huntington Ingalls Industries is are seeking a Specification Writer too develop procedures used for the operation of equipment and systems aboard modern nuclear submarines, and other manuals used for training of personnel and maintenance of these systems.
As new or modernized equipment is installed aboard submarines, the Specification Writer examines the technical documentation (drawings, specification sheets, etc.) and procedures (technical manuals, component procedures and descriptions, etc.) supplied by vendors and system/equipment design engineers and agencies to develop standardized procedures and manuals to be used by sailors aboard the submarine and maintenance personnel who will be maintaining and testing these systems.
The Specification Writer works with other writers, engineers, supply vendors, and the Navy to ensure the best and complete information is made available to the submarine fleet. #LI-MJ1 *TE *MV *TL
What You Will Do
Prepares specifications from engineering change notices, customer specifications, and/or published data sheets.
Maintains customer specifications files; reviews customer drawings and data; translates customer language into standard procedures and product flow.
Prior Aircraft carrier experience in engineering, reactor, or combat systems department (Ford Class preferred).
Experience operating or maintaining Machinery Control Monitoring System.
Familiarity with ship control and communication systems.
Familiar with CVN (Ford Class) Deck equipment, Elevators who can read drawings, communicate clearly.
The ability to grasp the concepts of equipment description and operation and TMCR contract requirements for content.
The ability to mentor co-workers.
Experience working with NNS towards resolving critical technical issues that are presented in technical manuals aboard carriers.
Onsite working in office for training and remote working is available when sufficient in your job duties.
What You Must Have
Must have a High School Diploma/Equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience.
Must have experience with navy Aircraft Carrier (CVN) systems such a; Reactor, combat systems, machinery control monitoring system, deck equipment and/or elevators.
Must be able to obtain/maintain a DoD security clearance.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
