Samsung Austin Semiconductor (SAS) is one of the most advanced semiconductor manufacturing facilities in the United States. Owned by Samsung Electronics Corporation Ltd., SAS is the only semiconductor manufacturing plant located outside of Korea. SAS manufactures logic components for digital services, personal computers, mobile phones, workstations and servers. The Chemical Vapor Deposition team is focused on the maintenance and recovery of Chemical Vapor Deposition equipment. As part of the Chemical Vapor Deposition team, you will provide support in preventative maintenance and breakdown maintenance.

SAS is focused on being the World's Best Foundry product supplier.

Role and Responsibilities

  • CVD Shift Engineer is responsible for sustaining all CVD processes and maintaining a quality mindset.

  • Sustaining activities includes BBT responses, WOW/Dogtool responses, Engineering tool requests, scrap resolutions and execution, quality and excursion prevention.

  • Actions by shift engineers also includes coordinating and communicating with Leadership on equipment status and progress from plans, improving quals from Plan Maintenance to full release.

  • CVD shift engineers provide front line support for excursion resolutions/TEM analysis requests/tool spread activities and emergency quality issues.

  • This position rotates shift every 3 months from days to nights and back again.

  • Compliance with site safety procedures.

  • Single point of contact for quality/tool/process issues on shift.

  • Responsible for BBT/Dog tool/Q code response for CVD.

  • Point of contact for escalation issues associated with excursions.

  • Scrap disputes and scrap determination or execution.

  • Execute plans requested by CVD engineers during weekends and holidays for data collection/tool spread.

  • Work with shift supervisors to develop consistent protocols across shift.

  • Shift Improvement/Train through LEAN principles and project relations.

  • Prepare and train to become a future process /equipment engineer for CVD.

  • Work days and hours: CWW, All Rotating shifts.

Skills and Qualifications

  • B.S. in a related field/technology or Bachelors in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical engineering, Materials Science, or Hard Sciences preferred with 3+ years of experience preferred.

  • Bronze Lean or Six Sigma certified a plus.

  • The individual selected for this position will have a proven track record of success with respect to work environment or expertise.

  • Able to adapt and learn new systems in an exceptional time basis.

  • Familiarity with basic chemical and mechanical engineering principles.

  • Thorough understanding of equipment and process signals and monitoring strategies.

  • Strong analytical skills/ Data Mining/Statistical Analysis (using MATLAB, JMP, Excel, Word).

  • FMEA experience, 6 Sigma and Lean certification a plus, along with QA understanding.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Self-Driven, Highly Motivated Individual.

  • Teamwork Demonstration.

  • Strong visual basic skills and pulling data through SQL, proficient in use of Excel with knowledge of advanced functions, macros and pivot table capability is a plus.

  • Basic knowledge of various IC manufacturing.

  • Strong Communication Skills.

  • US Military experience a plus, such as (US Navy Nuclear Power experience).

The Metals Operations team is focused on being a strong technical contributor within the SAS facilities in Austin, TX. As part of the Metals Operations team, you will provide support in the development and implementation of advanced Physical Vapor Deposition equipment for Back End of Line Copper integration in a state of the art 300mm production facility. SAS is focused on being the World's Best Foundry product supplier. Role and Responsibilities * This position is for a strong technical contributor within the SAS facilities in Austin, TX. * The shift engineer serves as a multifaceted roll assisting shift operations from a systems perspective, addressing quality and change point management issues, finding Defect root causes, and assisting shift technicians with interlock troubleshooting assistance. * The individual selected for this position will participate in the development and implementation of advanced PVD and CVD equipment for FEOL/BEOL integration in a state of the art 300mm production facility. * Troubleshoot process setup issues such as experiment setup and recipe interlocks. * Act as a backup to the shift supervisor when required. * Analyze data and work with Process Owners and techs to drive release defects downs. * Assist in troubleshooting of equipment interlock setup in realtime and wafer based monitoring systems. * Own root cause identification on defect notifications. * Compile and disseminate the daily closed loop monitoring report. * Respond to critical fab events that require containment speed and quick resolution to ensure minimal impact to product. Generate reports (such as 8D) illustrating root cause of incidents, corrective actions and future preventative measures. * Participate in task force teams that address fab-wide KPI for yield improvement, defect reduction, OEE improvement, and scrap reduction. Formulate ideas/experiments that can provide conclusions that will reveal a path forward for continuous improvement. * Proficient in the use of Lean and statistical analysis practices. * Provide the expert knowledge and judgment for change point management decisions. * Complete routine daily monitoring of processes/equipment performance and take action on trends that demonstrate abnormal behavior. Set the example for maintaining the Metals Team's high quality standards. * Create and update SOPs to standardize work flows and improve working methods. * Support technology node transfers and process spread across tools. * Support cost reduction activities. * Must be able to adapt to changing business needs and demonstrate flexibility to change priorities as needed. * Interface with Process Engineers, Equipment Technicians, and Manufacturing on a daily basis to set priority and update project status and/or impact. * Effective communication especially as priorities and circumstances change. Recognizes communication and task planning/passdowns are critical to maintaining a highly productive and team oriented environment. * Respectfully challenge status quo, assumptions, conclusions or quality standards to ensure correct decisions are being made. * Work days and hours: CWW, D Shift. Skills and Qualifications * B.S. in a related field. * Lean or Six Sigma certified is a strong plus. * Vendor training certifications on AMAT, Novellus, Lam, or Cannon Anelva strong plus. * The individual selected for this position will have a proven track record of success with respect to advanced thin film Metallization deposition equipment for FEOL/BEOL in a state-of-the-art 300mm production facility. * Knowledge of various Metallization modules, e.g. Hardmask, CuBs Aura/RFxT, MOCVD, ALD TiN, ALD TaN,RF PVD Ni, for 14nm technology nodes and beyond is a plus. * Proficient in use of Excel with knowledge of advanced functions, macros and pivot table capability.
