General Job description:

Inspect sheet vinyl and perform qc checks as needed. Operate winding machine to process correct roll length. Package rolls with plastic, ends caps, staples, and label identification. This is a cross trained role.

Job duties and responsibilities (Packing, Wind Up and or Quality Inspector):

Packaging

  • Maintain sufficient work in process levels for cores, end caps, & plastic

  • Provide breaks to other cv finishing operators.

  • Machine set up for correct plastic length.

  • Operate roll transfer to elevator location.

  • Correct packaging label placement and maintain accordingly.

  • Operate a staple gun.

  • Install endcaps using rubber hammer.

  • Wrap and tape down plastic ends.

  • Assist line as needed during line stops and or cleaning.

  • Operate crane.

  • Communicate with warehouse as needed.

Wind-Up

  • Maintain planning work order sequence by using schedule and MES.

  • Enter grading data into MES and Excel.

  • Run MES in both Automatic and Manual mode.

  • Lab sample cutouts (performed in manual mode)

  • Read and interpret schedule regarding customer requirements.

  • Understand how to perform a width changeover.

  • Know how to operate center rewind and small roll winder.

  • Troubleshoot basic machine issues.

  • Operate crane.

  • Create roll tickets as need in automatic mode and manual when needed.

  • Know and understand feet and inches using tape measure.

  • Know how to operate web guiders and understand sheet vinyl alignment.

  • Will operate HMI panel to stop and start inspection table and accumulator.

Quality Inspector

  • Grade and inspect accordingly to quality master standard and tech sheets.

  • Learn to use multiple grading codes based on first choice, second choice and scrap.

  • Have keen eye for visual defects and color deviation.

  • Conduct quality control testing for overall thickness, wear layer and weight.

  • Use gloss meter and understand standard and acceptable specifications.

  • Identify systems and procedures to increase the accuracy of inspection and re-inspect processes.

  • Assist in the initial production runs in manufacturing to ensure production material is as close as possible visually to the standard.

  • Will operate HMI panel to stop and start inspection table and accumulator.

  • Maintain edge trim knifes accordingly to width requirements.

  • Know and understand feet and inches using tape measure.

  • Must be able to communicate when inspecting and as needed.

Essential Skills and Experience: (Packing Utility or Wind Up or Quality Inspector):

  • High-School or GED diploma preferred.

  • Previous experience with quality systems

  • Must have superior color vision - will take shade test.

  • Good and timely decision-making skills

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills

  • Must be able to operate various test equipment and software.

  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Strong critical thinking skills

Essential Skills and Experience (Packing Utility or Wind Up or Quality Inspector):

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the operation of production machinery and monitoring products.

  • Flexible for all shifts

  • General Labor, Production Worker, able to lift to 60 pounds.

  • Willing to learn to operate a lift truck.
