Description of Job
The Cutting Edge Academic Coordinator works with students with intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as parents, student workers, and Edgewood College staff & faculty to promote inclusion within higher education. The Academic Coordinator ensures students' academic accommodations are met, and modifications are implemented when appropriate. The Academic Coordinator also collaborates with faculty in supporting students in general education courses.
Responsibilities
Academic Scheduling and Support
Identifies and implements academic accommodations and support for students based on students' Individualized Education Plans and other disability documentation
Acts as the first point of contact to address student needs and supports in academics
Attends weekly student meetings to address student needs and supports in academics
Advises students on course selection and registration according to their certificate or degree plan
Develops and monitors Individualized College Plans, student profiles, and student schedules
Creates the Academic Master Schedule for the program
Family & Staff Collaboration
Identifies student support needs (course coaching) and collaborates with program leadership to address these needs
Collaborates with the Practicum Coordinator and/or other Education Faculty specifically to address practicum needs
Communicates and collaborates with families, students, and faculty regarding academics
Collaborates with other academic advisors at the College to support degree-seeking students
Communicates with the Registrar's Office regarding course audits, special arrangements, or other course related needs
Communicates with the Division of Education regarding Cutting Edge courses, enrollment predictions, and the timetable
Partners with program leadership to make changes to Cutting Edge courses or Cutting Edge certificates
Partners with program leadership to address matters of campus and classroom inclusion
Curriculum and Instruction
May develop curriculum for select Cutting Edge courses: EDU 91 Safety in the Community, EDU 92 Interpersonal Relationships, EDU 93 & 94 Internship, and EDU 90/100 Skills for Success
May deliver direct instruction throughout the school year
Provides regular feedback to students regarding their progress (when instructing)
Event Planning
Collaborates with the Cutting Edge Team in planning and executing annual events: Concluding Ceremony, Pre-College Program, Cutting Edge Retreat, Open Houses, Night Market, Student Showcase, and Peer Mentor Appreciation
Attends program events as assigned

Job Qualifications
Necessary Education or Work Experience
Bachelor's degree in special education or related field
Minimum of three years experience implementing academic accommodations, modifications, and support
Required Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of academic accommodations and modifications, assistive technologies, and academic support tools/resources
Ability to co-manage multiple student schedules
Ability to collaborate with staff and faculty
Experience in administrative management of services for adult learners with disabilities;
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Required Technical Skills
Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to incorporate assistive technology into the program
Ability to use online applications such as Blackboard to monitor student assignment completion
