Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
1.1 Produces cut double length glass and forms BD Vacutainer tubes of acceptable quality as per current specification. Orders, supplies and loads manually, and by using a powdered lift truck, the appropriate cane tubing into the cutter hopper. Loads appropriate cut double lengths into the forming machine. Makes mechanical or flame adjustments to maintain required quality and productivity levels.
2.0 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
2.1 The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:
2.1.1 Knows all raw material and their locations and maintains neat and proper storage. Orders the material needed to accommodate tube cutting and forming schedules within the Department.
2.1.2 Keeps record of raw materials on hand and notifies facilitator of any anticipated shortages which may cause a loss of production. Completes APRISO transactions for cane glass.
2.1.3 Accurately records and reports waste and assist in maintaining inventory control using latest accounting methods.
2.1.4 Completes required forms for SAP system for all material transfers.
2.1.5 Works efficiently and cooperates with management and other employees.
2.1.6 Maintains cutting hopper glass supply to ensure a constant output of cut double lengths to supply a former.
2.1.7 Manually transfers cut double lengths into an empty box or former hopper by using a scoop, visually inspecting for quality defects.
2.1.8 Performs all quality-self-inspections according to the latest methods using BD Vacutainer Operational Specifications.
2.1.9 Completes all set ups and machine adjustments on Cutter/Former to maintain product flow and acceptable quality.
2.1.10 Performs regular preventative maintenance.
2.1.11 Reports problems to Setup or management immediately.
2.1.12 Maintains a clean work area and equipment to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices/ISO 9000 requirements and good housekeeping levels and reports any safety hazards to management immediately.
2.1.13 May be required to perform rebuild and repair of equipment at plant shutdown periods.
2.1.14 If cutter/forming is not running, your role will be to support Low Flow operations.
2.1.15 Performs other jobs when Cutter/Former operation is not running. Responsible for being fully trained on Spray Coat Operations within twelve (12) months.
3.0 OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
3.1 Other responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
3.1.1 Complies with all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies/procedures.
3.1.2 Complies with all local BD quality policies/procedures/practices through consistent application of sound Quality Assurance principles.
3.1.3 Performs other job related duties as assigned.
3.1.4 Observes all safety, environmental and quality system standards.

4.0 EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
4.1 Education
4.1.1 High school diploma.
4.2 Experience
4.2.1 Can successfully complete all job requirements after 6 months of on the job training.
4.3 Physical Requirements
4.3.1 Level 3
4.3.1.1 Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly. Physical demands requirement are in excess of those for Light Work.
4.4 Mental Requirements
4.4.1 Ability to read, write and understand English. Must pay close attention to detail and understand quality levels required for the products produced.
4.5 Equipment Use
4.5.1 Ability to operate recirculating glass cutter and former and DataMyte SPC computer system. Ability to operate powered fork lift and manual pallet mover. Must be a licensed fork lift operator.
4.6 Working Conditions
4.6.1 The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
4.6.2 The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals and broken glass.
4.7 Supervision
4.7.1 Reports directly to Shift Facilitator. Has no supervision over others.

Assists in the planning and scheduling of product manufacturing requirements supplied from Material Control Assures employee involvement is actively pursued, targeted at increasing capacities, improving quality, reducing waste levels and improving the working environment. Directs hourly personnel within the department. Monitors daily productivity and waste reports. Identifies problem areas deterring from the department meeting established budgeted costs of operation and reviews with the department supervisor appropriate corrective actions.
